I went on a market visit trip with Monica, followed by a lunch of cactus salad, beans and home made tortillas at her home. The market visit was great - we sampled lots of fruits and prepared foods. Monica knew many of the vendors and took time to explain what we were seeing and tasting. Although I have spent years... More

I spent a lot of time researching things to do in Zihuatanejo. Everyone seemed to really enjoy Monica's cooking class. I attended with two friends. We all had a wonderful time, both going to the farmers' market and then helping to prepare and eat the 3 fish dishes. I would definitely go again if I were to visit Zihuatinejo again.... More

Spent several hours observing and assisting Monica as she prepared Chiles Rellenos 5 different ways! Afterward we sat and enjoyed a lovely afternoon meal of the peppers we had created. Tequila was served at a nominal extra cost! Monica speaks English very well and has a Mexican charm all her own. We loved her stories about her grandmother and how... More

I took the Chiles Rellenos class 7/4/14 and it was a great experience and distraction from the popular tours in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. Monica was a great teacher. Her facility was unique, casual, clean, and well organized. She was very attentive and patient while providing hands on training. Her family were very helpful and at the end of the class we all... We requested a seafood only class because we were all non-meat eaters….Monica accommodated us wonderfully. She is a great hostess and cook and speaks English. The class is in her patio…nothing fancy, but very authentically Mexican. Highly recommend!

How unique and fun! Outdoor kitchen which prepares local recipes - our class was peppers - poblano, ancho, jalapeño. All stuffed and prepared in a variety of delicious ways, which can be replicated at home. Monica and her staff were very welcoming and the experience was 100% hands-on. Like being welcomed into a friend's backyard for a fun cookout. Enjoyed... More

Four of us showed up early for a delicious breakfast, separate from the class. Afterwards, we spent two hours learning the ingredients and finer points of preparing mole. Instruction was clear, and the end result excellent. We enjoyed it so much that we are returning in a few days for the market tour and class on preparation of tiritas. A... More

Patio Mexica was short walk from our hotel on Playa Madera; it was a good morning activity. Class is outdoors on Monica's patio. Our class made red and green sauce, tortilla soup, chilaquilas, and enchaladas. We really enjoyed the class and would definately recommend it to others. Monica only accepts pesos for payment,so make sure you bring the correct amount.... More

When we first arrived for our class, I was a little concerned because there were a large number of people and we started about 20 minutes late. But by the time the class ended, it was obvious that the # of participants isn't an issue. And there is a lot of preparation work in getting ready for the class, so... More

We did this class which included a walk to the market, purchased some items then went back and prepared a meal. Monica was very nice and so was her staff, but I found the cooking class a bit lame, it would have been nice to get the group involved more.... Seems like something left for the masses and a bit...
