Not a swimming beach - this is where the fishermen land their catch in the mornings. The paseo is lined with restaurants all trying to attract your attention. Several have good music in the evenings. Midway along the paseo is the " town Square" where there is a basketball court and on many evenings there is an outdoor stage with... More

Spent every day checking out the catch of the day brought in by local fishermen, people watching, checking out the different restaurants, people watching, daydreaming and even enjoying the antics of the local beach dogs. Wandering shops of all kinds and trying out the Blackberry Margaritas at Tata's. Loved this beach. Lovely to have dinner on the beach at sunset... More

This is the area the fisherman land their catch. Head there for breakfast or an evening meal. The zocolo has entertainment at least 3 nights per week. The pier is where you get the ferry to Las Gatas a 40 peso ride and worth every peso. Easy walk into the town centre from here past lots of restaurants and bars.

Lots of great authentic Mexican restaurants. Reasonably priced food and beer. Great shopping at Artesian shops. Awesome Gelato shop on plaza. Fun place to watch basketball on waterfront.

Playa Principal is where all the fisherman come and go from each day. It's a very happening part of town for the locals and so I found it interesting and great fun just to walk around and hang out watching everything. There's always something happening there. However it's pretty dirty (think rubbish from boats and fish guts thrown into the... More

This beach is at the heart of the town area. All the fisherman bring their catch and sell it to the locals and others every morning. They have an area under the trees where they lay out all the fish and have areas to store their fishing gear. There are many restaurants, shops and coffee shops across the sidewalk from... More

This main beach is next to the pier and right by where the commercial fisherman beach their panga's. It is sometimes unsafe and polluted due to the commercial fishermen. Go to Playa la Ropa or Playa Madera for safe, clean swimming.

The fishing charters return in the afternoon, to sell their catch to the seaside restaurants. For 100 pesos (Under $10 US) the fresh food is incredible. I highly recomend eating there. Zihuatinejo is a great jumping off point for several beaches in the area. Cheap busses and taxis take you up the coast to check out various regions. Ixtapa is... More

I travel to Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo every year. There is a "drainage" canal that comes from the city of Zihuatanejo and goes into the ocean on this beach. The canal carries sewage and other substances into the sea. When it rains, the canal is very full of things. I will not go swimming in that area of the Zihuatanejo bay and I'd... More

With a 8-10 cafes streached along this very pleasent walkway it is our very favorite place for dinner. While the beach is not suitable for swimming the many fine cafes, with stroling musicians wandering the area you could not ask for a nicer evening dining spot. I have met people from all over the world here. In the day time... More
