I can say that I'm a beach lover and as such have checked them out where ever I've travelled. The beach that remains on the top of my list is Destiladeras Beach on the way to Punta de Mita and is part of the Bay of Banderas. It doesn't have fantastic facilities, in fact you could drive right by it...

Whenever I am in Puerto Vallarta area, one day is set aside to get to this beautiful beach. A short ride (by cab or bus) usually drops you roadside to walk past the stone arch entrance sign and down the driveway to this out-of-the-way oasis. We walked for miles without seeing anyone. Finally stopped near Rancho Banderas, a time-share/condo/hotel halfway down the beach.
This is one of the...

A pristine and very friendly beach that can be reached by bus from Sam's club. Beautiful, gentle rolling waves, boogie boards and a simple restaurant. No buildings visible except a giant palapa. My favorite beach.
