So old Mexico, very authentic and beautiful. Sitting in the Machardo square listening to live music whilst eating is a wonderful experience.

Was in Maz first 2 weeks in dec/2012. Took a tour that I booked through my travel rep 9Westjet) that was set with Pronatours. I was quite with this tour. It lasted about 4 hours. We had a very good guide. He was a born and bred Mazatlan resident and spoke very good english. He was very knowledgeable and personable.... More

great food and plaza (plazuela machado) present a great distraction from the other half-interesting things to do in town, like the beach and shopping. the plaza is really the best thing about the town and shouldn't be missed.

You must visit here and see the original culture. We always go during the day to see thing better and helps us feel safe too. Slow down and look around, ride around, walk around, see the sites, mingle with the people.

There is just so much to see and appreciate in Old Mazatlan. Take your time and your camera, chat with the locals, they love to talk about their city. Some highlights, of course the Plaza Machado, the Cathedral, the Central Market (go early in the day, later, the aroma is less pleasant). We have especially enjoyed our visits to the... More

We drove street after street through the historical area soaking up the best of old Mazatlan. There are a lot of one-way streets and many are not marked very well so be on your toes.

We visited Old Mazatlan one early afternoon after a morning visit to the Central Market (Mercado) and navigating the hectic, noisy streets surrounding it. It was a couple of days before Christmas so it was busy everywhere. We walked a few blocks away from the lovely cathedral and found ourselves in a quiet neighbourhood with beautiful architecture. The central point... More

We had a nice time strolling about Old Mazatlan, which is a marked contrast to the grimier, busier City Center. Beautiful architecture, some interesting shops, good restaurants.

Very fun and exciting town-worst was seeing masked police officers with machine guns standing in back of trucks. We would have spent more time there if we knew the area a bit better and felt safer.

Magnificent Mazatlan, that’s all we can say. We come every fall for seven weeks, and we appreciate it more each year. You’ll love its old world charm, its beaches, its vibrancy and its people. Unlike Cancun or Puerto Vallarta this is not just a tourist town but an independent proud city with a long history; gorgeous architecture; a lovely Malacon... More
