This island has the clearest beaches we saw in all of Mazatlan! The catamaran to island was gorgeous and we got to see sea lions on the way there! I have spent 25 winters in Mazatlan. Deer Island , Stone Island and all of old Mazatlan can be enjoyed " on the cheap " If you are arriving by cruise line , forget the expencive packages. You can rent a catamaran on the beach for 30 $ U.S an hour , Spend as much time on Deer Island as... more

We were originally scheduled for the Stone Island excursion, but when they did not have enough people, the tour operators (Konakai Timaran/ Aries Fleet), offered us Deer Island. Our plans for Stone Island was to go horseback riding and relax on a beach. We were told Deer Island was even better beach. I have no idea what Stone Island was... more

Deer Island is one excursion available while docked in Mazatlan aboard most cruise ships. I went there the second week in May 2006.
