The boat ride to Deer Island was better than the location itself. If you're an experienced snorkeler, you'll be disappointed. Basically you pay to go sit on a different beach.

Booked catamaran tour to Deer Island through Aries Fleet at El Cid. Snorkelling great once around far side of island, sucked closer to main beach. Nice beach, great banana boat rides and beach party. Plenty of drinks and food to keep everyone happy.

We took this excursion from our cruise ship. We enjoyed the kayaking and the hike, but the trip didn't completely match the description we were given. Description said we would circle Kaktus Island on our kayaks, but we just went down one side of Deer Island and back (also seemed much shorter that the 1 hour trip advertised). After we... More

We decided to rent a hobie cat and sail over to Deer Island and check it out. It was a pleasant sail over and once there we swamarou d..played on the beach and had a little mexi-nosh that we chose from one of the little huts there selling goodies and beverages. Fun time.

The crew is generous with drinks and food. The adventures are tame for the family. Overall if you sell a relaxing boat trip and a low key visit where you can do a banana boat ride, snorkeling, and hang on the beach this is a very good choice. The only improvement we'd have welcomed are better bathrooms. But it's a... More

we were told we would see bird island and light house, we went halfway towards bird island and anchored by deer island, which took 4 trips to beach everyone. not a trip for the elder or someone with baby. we booked the bar-b-q trip(Wednesdays) was disappointed with food selection(Kabobs and Burritos) Snorkeling was ok, saw some small fish, do recommend... Lots of fun, not busy at all, locals were very friendly, GREAT snorkelling. Well worth it. Especially if you don't like a lot of people. Nice sandy beach. You need to bring your own gear though as well as food though there are tables there.

Took the shark boat from the water sports center next to El Cid. Island is a simple destination with a small beach, refreshments and a pleasant place to spend several hours.

40 travelers on the catamaran. We were told if you wanted to banana boat, you need to do that first. We lost out on getting snorkels for the 4 in our party, so had to wait and wait for the others to finish using the equipment. Once they were done with it, they offered it to the next person in...
