During the day the streets of this plaza have traffic but at night they block it and restaurants put their tables out in the street. There was a couple of different bands playing and it has a look and feel you don't see everywhere in mexico. It reminded me a little bit of downtown Queretaro. The architecture of the buildings... The Heart of Old Mazatlan - with renovated historical buildings on all sides, the school of art on one end, several restaurants and bars. A great meeting place - wonderful light for photos - a great focal point from which to explore the old city.

Super fun! Restaurants are good and shopping is all over. Best to go on Friday or Saturdays. Enrike from El CID hotel took us here.

One of the best places we had dinner was on the Plaza Machado at the VIntage Retro Bar & Cafe which seems to have flown under the radar screen of Trip Advisor. It is located at the other end of the block from Pedro y Lola. They serve this 100 Anos Steak FiIlet which all five of us ordered and... More

Calm and peaceful after the congestion at the Mercado and plaza by the Cathedral. Pleasant restaurants. Pedro y Lola's is an upscale "locals" restaurant.

Plazuela Machado is surrounded by restaurants, has entertainment either outside or in one of the venues most nights, has a weekend evening craft market on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and is a great place to sit and people watch.

Plazuela Machado starts to get busy as the sun begins to go down. A band plays in the bandstand drawing a small crowd to watch and listen. There are stalls selling mostly home made beaded jewellery. Sweets, balloons and bubble wands are on sale to amuse the children. There's even a bridal party stopped by to have photographs taken of... More

In our two weeks in Mazatlan, we made our way down to Plaza Machado three times. There are many great places to have dinner on and around the plaza. On Sunday, there is a wonderful family atmosphere and they have music a couple of nights a week. This past Friday, there was a production. Of Romeo and Juliet at the... More
