To stroll around in the evening when the Machado is a buzz with vendors and music and people dining on some lovely food is just heaven. During the day the beat is much slower. Beautiful oasis in Centro Historico. Brimming with flavour.

Plazuela Machado is the heart of Old Maztlán, if not the entire city. The central plaza is home to many fine restaurants and shops housed in colonial buildings. The square surrounding the gazebo is always abuzz with activity. It's also home to the historic Angela Peralta theater, and one of my favorite restaurant's in Maztlán; Cenaduria El Tunel. One of... This lovely area of Mazatlan is worth two visits. One during the day to enjoy the shops (expensive), galleries and museums, a casual lunch and a must visit to the top of the Freeman Hotel. Then return at night to enjoy one of the many restaurants, sit outside the theater and listen rooms filed with music lessons or a warm... More

Lots of atmosphere, action and history. There are lots of restaurants around the plaza. Also entertainment and excitement. Old town Mazatlan is beautiful.

An authentic Mexican square. Outdoor restaurants (don't miss Pedro and Lola's or Topolo. Angela Peralto theater. Go in Roberts to top floor for a drink and a view. Artists selling jewelry and crafts on square. Leather mask shop nearby. Can be difficult to find if walking from Cathedral or market. Smart to grab a Pulmanias the first time. Best to... More

Come early and watch the restaurants set up in the streets, the students practicing in the studio's and the artisans setting up their wares. We start with a drink at the top of the Jonathan Hotel, stroll the square for a restaurant and then dancing along to the music in the Plaza. Love the Colonial style architecture and the beautiful... The market in old town is very busy, very hot but lots of selection. When comparing to the Golden Zone, the market is better priced and a greater selection.

Unique plaza surrounded by restaurants and New Orleans style architecture The restaurants move into the street on weekends and the Square becomes a Flea Market. Live music, nicely done. The Opera House is off to one side of the square and a Boutique Hotel with Rooftop Bar is worth a visit.

You must take in the art walk on the 1st Friday of every month. Visit Nid Art and many other galleries. The local food is great and the opera house, museums and shops are fabulous! There is a nice little gellato place next to Nid Art that has the most amazing confections! The Plaza is a nice place to sit,... More
