When I visit places, I usually like to see the main tourist attraction but I don't spend a lot of time in them because I really like to experience what it's like to live in the place I'm visiting as well. However, I was thankful for the Golden Zone in Mazatlan. After having caught the wrong bus and after having... More

We liked it all!!! The hotel, beach, shopping, restaurants. We also went to "OLD Mazatlan" where we went to the market, the old church (which was awwwwwesome). The people are so friendly and helpful. Had a fabulous time!!!!!!

Quite a few shops have closed but the area has undergone some major renovations. Great restaurants/bars. Stop by "The Saloon" and say hi to Wendy, a Cdn Gal!

The Mayan dinner show "Xibalba" was excellent. Expert dancers and musicians in a unique Mayan pyramid setting. Definitely try to do this when you're in Mazatlan! Casa Maya is also a beautiful store with a variety of lovely things. We bought a couple of beautiful glass sculptures there. Highest recommendation.

We have been up and down the golden zone so many times now it feels like home. There is so many hotels, and shops everything you need. We have walked and we have used the local bus - it is a great place we enjoy

We often get out of the Golden Zone area, but we spend many evenings walking along looking for a place to eat or a bargain in one of the shops. We have always felt very safe and often stop to chat with shop owners and even some of the time share salesmen. They are actually very interesting people once you... More

The Zona Dorada or Golden Zone of Mazatlan is home to the highest concentration of hotel rooms in the city. It's the place to go to find high rise hotels, endless souvenir shops, and a lot of great restaurants. But with the good comes the bad; you won't see the beach much as all those high rise hotels occupy that... More

Do your shopping and roaming about here for trinkets etc. We like to just roam about, chatting, eating, drinking and shopping. Nice area of Mazatlan that is improving every year for 3 years plus now..

There are some great shops here. On of my favorites is Desiner Bazaar. Very nice gift items, home furnishings, clothes etc. the prices are fixed...no negotiating, but it seemed fair to me. Everything is quality here..they have a sister store further down the street, but I cannot remember the name of it. Take your time..there is a lot to see.

There's a lot packed into the Golden Zone and we found that we spent quite a few days pounding the streets checking things out. Some of our favorite restaurants are in the Zone - Jungle Juice, Gus Gus, Rico's coffee shop and a little hole in the wall Agua Fresca place that has the most amazing fresh fruit popsicles you'll...
