We walked from the Centro area, at our hotel, through the city and to Playa Olas Altas and then followed the Malecon around toward the south of that beach and on around to the next. You will eventually follow the seacliff to the marina area where there are taxis to get to Stone Island. Follow the causeway/road til you get... More

the view is wonderful but it is a serious hike up the hill if not in shape...takes 35 to 40 minutes and take lots of water...no bathroom at the top

I found the hike a bit challenging being that I am not used to hiking up steep hills. It is a long way to the top. It is best to make the trip early in the morning to avoid getting over heated and bring water. Although there is water for purchasing at the Lighthouse once you make it up to... More

The trail was not well maintained so bring good shoes. My husband went off the main trail and took a small side trail to reach the top but he ended up quite high and at the edge of the cliff with rocks and ocean way down below. This trail was unmarked with no warning. Good grief! thank god he was... More

The view from the top is great. But the 30 hike up a very steep grade is not for the weak or infirm. Do not go unless you can easily walk up the stair of a 100 story building because that is what you are in for. Please click helpful if this was.

You can take the bus to the end of the line for less than $1US and walk over to the lighthouse. It is a winding path up to a set of long stairs that is worth the effort but not for anyone challenged by uneven walking surfaces or long walks. It is about a 35-45 minute hike up at a... More

The lighthouse is just off the main beach road, and is really an enormous hill with a small lighthouse on top. It's the second highest natural lighthouse, not the second tallest lighthouse building. However, note that the lighthouse itself is closed to the public, Vehicles get you only to the base of the mountain. From there, it's a 20 to... More

Important note when visiting the lighthouse is that vehicles can only get you to the base of the mountain. From there, you have to walk up on your own. It will take you 20-30 minutes, depending on how quickly you walk. The last half of the climb is up steps. Once you reach the top, the views are the best... More
