Much less traveled than Manzanillo, therefore, more rustic... Plenty of great food right on the beach... Lots of Erosion has destroyed some buildings, and the look of the town... Still some wonderful local artisans that have beautiful wares to be shared... The locals have crafted beautiful seed work...work much more than the price!!! Loved renting bikes and touring all around... More

Wonderful little town with lots of different attractions and local Mexican history. The people are friendly, the restaurants are good, the shopping is great and the bars are awesome. I have added some pics. If you go to Manzanillo area be sure to visit this wonderful little town to experience Mexican culture at its finest.

The town of Barra de Navidad is located on a long barrier bar separating a large lagoon from the Pacific Ocean. Surfers and travelers seeking economical lodging frequent Barra while those with deeper pockets stay at the luxurious Grand Bay Hotel across the channel. The two are connected by water taxis. We always visit on our sailboat, staying in the... More

We are so GLAD that those who wrote poor reviews will not be back to Barra de Navidad. None of what they seemed to observe is true. This is a quiet little fishing village with wonderful people, good restaurants, great services and a laid back attitude. It is not a Poor village in any way. Many people don't have a... More

Barra is a small coastal Mexican town with lots of retired Canadian/Americans and lots of services for them - excellent shopping and restaurants in a village like atmosphere. Very laid back. Unfortunately, a hurricane wiped out most of the beach a year or so ago, but there's lots of beach close by in Melaque.

While roaming the streets of Barra Navidad we heard some great music coming from one of the bars and decided to stop in. There weren't many in the place when we first went in but by the end of the night it was packed. I am sure that they all came to listen to the live band and not to... More

We have been to Barra several times, but this was the first time since the devasting storm of a couple years ago. The beach side hotels and restaurants have not fully recovered. The general activity level has not yet returned. You should feel completely safe in traveling through the town and do not worry about any food establishments. If you... More

lots of little shops and retaurants, great place to go to mix it up for the day to day resort life. You can even take a bost to a restautant across the bay that serves great seafood.

Less than one hour from Manzanillo. Barra de Navidad and Melaque are great to see. It has a little something to describe - very quaint and pleasant. Something more inspiring than Manzanillo. You can shop there, sightseeing, relax, contemplate the site, swim, take a beer, and certainly wish to return.
