Very walk-able and friendly. Small streets and super hospitable people. We ordered a beer at a small street side restaurant and they said, yes, okay, no problem and then they promptly walked down the street to a small store and bought us cold beer and brought it back to us. Wonderful people in Barra.

It was a great day trip and we loved the shopping, the bay, the beach and the food. I recommend it if you need a break from your hotel resort days. Not too far 1 hour or so. Worth it!

Quaint little town with a market on Thursday. Lots of little shops and bars. We took a free water taxi to Mary's Restaurant. |It's a great seafood restaurant on an island. Well worth the trip. Our excursion with Sunwing to Barre Navidad also included a plantation tour, which was very interesting with stops at a banana plantation growing not only... More

We love going to this quaint village to shop and have lunch. A must if you are in Manzanillo. It is a short distance from our Villa Parasio in Manzanillo.

One of my favourites places to take my guests for a leisurely walking tour and good food at Restaurant Veleros by the water. Melaque is 10 away and also worth visiting. You can take a boat/taxi ride to the Grand Bay Hotel across the inlet/lagune but as we were a large group of 8, it was cheaper to drive around... More

We spent a week in Barra arriving home last Saturday. It was our first visit there, and we'll be going back. Clean beach, friendly people and reasonable costs are all factors. If you're looking for an all inclusive resort, this isn't your place. If you want a unique Mexican experience, check it our. The town is clean compared to many,... More

The beach which used to be so beautiful is almost gone due to big storms and perhaps sea level rise. They are dredging and trying to fix this without apparent success. The town has no other major industry except tourism which means it's getting shoddy.I miss the old Barra which was a little piece of paradise.

Hopped the bus to Barra Navidad - easy ride, neat scenery. Sleepy area, beach undergoing rehab - not great right now, but holds promise.

liked just about all, local restaurant, Maria's and Mary's but you need the Aquatico Taxi to take you there!
