We love going to this quaint village to shop and have lunch. A must if you are in Manzanillo. It is a short distance from our Villa Parasio in Manzanillo.

One of my favourites places to take my guests for a leisurely walking tour and good food at Restaurant Veleros by the water. Melaque is 10 away and also worth visiting. You can take a boat/taxi ride to the Grand Bay Hotel across the inlet/lagune but as we were a large group of 8, it was cheaper to drive around... More

We spent a week in Barra arriving home last Saturday. It was our first visit there, and we'll be going back. Clean beach, friendly people and reasonable costs are all factors. If you're looking for an all inclusive resort, this isn't your place. If you want a unique Mexican experience, check it our. The town is clean compared to many,... More

The beach which used to be so beautiful is almost gone due to big storms and perhaps sea level rise. They are dredging and trying to fix this without apparent success. The town has no other major industry except tourism which means it's getting shoddy.I miss the old Barra which was a little piece of paradise.

Hopped the bus to Barra Navidad - easy ride, neat scenery. Sleepy area, beach undergoing rehab - not great right now, but holds promise.

This lively little town full of norteamericano sunbirds has plenty of oceanfront restaurants, souvenir stores and boats for rent. Unfortunately a lot of tacky concrete hotels are replacing the older two story buildings and rather changing the feel of the narrow streets. Also the beach was sloping very steeply when we were there with giant pipes pumping sand from the... More

This was our first trip to Barra. The feel was inviting. There is a large Canadian population with so many musicians and artists. The food was inexpensive and very good. Streets are clean and safe. We have planned a trip for next year.

Barra Navidad is on a beautiful Bay near Manzanillo. Our group rented a van and travelled from Manzanillo Bay to take in the Thursday Market in this little surf town. There are lots of cool little shops and restaurants that feel like old Mexico, but the highlight for us was catching a water taxi to Restaurant Mary's for supper. It... More
