We took and walking tour of this Mexican seaside town and got a full tour because we met up with a personal friend who winters there. We traveled cheaply on a very comfortable bus. The terminal was a short cab ride from our hotel.

Ever heard of a clean Mexican town? This is one of those rare places (hey I love most Mexican towns) and we enjoyed strolling through the streets. Lots of decent art to buy and many restaurants to choose from. Warning - don't go for lunch as most open later. We did have a great mini lunch at Bar Caffetteria. They... More

Barra de Navidad has some excellent resturants, a lot of junky shops selling Chinese knock-offs, and a few good clothing stores. It also has a drop-dead beautiful beach stretching all the way to Malaque, and surfing. It is also one of the fastest growing beach communities, despite the fact that most housing is off the inner bay, not the beach.... More

Great shopping in lots of little shops. Some have large quantities of Mexican hand crafts and art work. We usually take the free boat out to Restaurant Mary's near the Grand Bay Marina on the inner bay/harbor area. Food is great and very reasonable. We manage to get up there from Manzanillo every couple of years.

Barra is amazing. Especially the Island. It has such a beautiful contrast of Pacific Ocean and Laguna. Highly recommend taking the water taxi out to Marys for lunch. Wonderful seafood right on the water. If you are staying over night, there is nothing like Grand Bay. DO NOT do the all inclusive package. The food is disgusting! instead, book online... More

After living in Manzanillo for many years and having many guests stay with me, I know they all enjoy a trip to Barra. It is not so much a place to go for the beach. Other than the lagoon, the surf is large. Good for surfers! It is more a place to poke around and but local handicrafts. Little gifts... More

Barra is charming. It's filled with little hotels, laidback cantinas, and excellent seafood restaurants. Most restaurants are on the water. It's also a shoppers delight with everything from tacky souvenirs, swimwear, fishing gear, bottle shops, ice

Over the years, I have spent about 3 years, in total in Barra De Navidad. Been there every month of the year. It was fun at first; But I got too close to a lot of the more "un savory" characters in town. The men; all theives, and rampant Homosexual activity everywhere. They will rip you off every chance they... More

Very small fishing and poor town. I wouldn't eat in any restaurants over there. The whole town is few streets and couple of minutes in the car.

About 40 minutes from Manzanillo, its great for a day trip with lost of small shops with varies products for souvenirs for gifts. Quite a few restaurants! My favorite is Pepes where the seats and table are in the sand. Could be a bit primitive at first glance, but take a look at the immaculate kitchen and you'll see why... More
