You can't miss the City Centre. It has the large blue sailfish sculpture with a park with some oddly decorative trees. The town plaza has a variety of tourist shops and restaurants besides the usual government buildings. We only stopped for a drink so can't comment on the food. The church is up the hill and worth a stop (its... More

Very typical of Central American shops. Streets are really quite clean. Some modernization and street improvements have been made over the years however you still get the smaller town feel. Vendors are great and not pushy. The mercado is multi level with partking on top. Lots of fresh produce and meats. Great buys.

There aren't a lot of tourist hotels if any in the downtown core of Manzanillo. If you do visit you will find a busy main avenida with many stores with prices much lower than you will find in Plaza Manzanillo or other big stores along the main boulevard in the Salagua / Las Hadas areas where most of the tourists... I spend the winters here. I get lots of visitors. They all want to go to centro historico. About 5 years ago, I started saying no. I send them on their own. There is very little for tourists. I DO like going to the mercado. It is a bit hard to find, but is a typical Mexican mercado. Other than... More

The sculpture is massive, and it's in a very pretty setting by the harbour. There is some good souvenier shopping just across the street. Then we kept walking on the streets farther back and got into a very traditional Mexican neighborhood. We came to the Central Market and that was really cool to watch the vendors preparing fish to sell... More

Stopped here for about half an hour as part of a bus tour of Manzanillo. I was great to see a part of the city that represents an integral part of the region tourist draw - swordfishing. We didn't go into any of the buildings, simply walked around the statue and enjoyed the place.

There are a couple of nice restaurants on the board walk, other than that, not much to see or do. Didn't like the meat/fish market; it was large and unappealing with all the 'faces' staring at you. Animal and fish faces, I mean.

Yes like so many other contributors, I was a little disappointed! The shops are quite touristy - and also hike the prices when the cruise ships arrive! The market was very interesting - particularly watching the fish sellers filleting their wares, beware of those knives!

Not as much English speaking people here, so we had a bit more trouble with the language barrier, but still everyone very friendly. It was a rainy day, so we took our time walking about. Very nice. Took the bus there and back, super easy to navigate!
