Almost nobody on the malecón, lots of the shops opposite were closed or vacant. Walking deeper into town to look for Mexican goods was not at all fruitful. Definitely not a tourist trap! Also found the harbour so full of ships, we could hardly see past them to the bay. Had hoped for more.

We only found 2 decent restaurants downtown. The sight to the harbor is amazing, but there were many places with foul odors. I think the local governments have to launch a campaign to raise awareness of how important it is to keep the city clean to better promote tourism.

Nothing to see if you have kiddos except this grande sailfish statue and a rather large stuffed one down by the military base. There are some shops nearby that sell trinkets. I suspect you could see this entire downtown/zocolo in about 30 minutes and feel satisfied.

This is a nice plaza where many of the locals hang out.

The town center is very touristy. Most of the shops are typical tourist souvenir shops. There are a few ice cream shops (helado) which are traditional for the Mexican families living there. Get a scoop, it helps to cool you off. The small cobblestone streets and busy atmosphere looks like you just walked onto a movie set. Very surreal. This... More
