If you go to acapulco, have in mind that traffic is disgusting, landscapes are beautiful but traffic ruins everything.

The people we encountered were friendly and helpful but the place is filthy, we noticed both locals and Mexican tourists discarding rubbish in the street with no thought. The area is rundown due to the lack of tourism but it should not be an excuse to treat it in this way. Very disappointed.

You have to hope you are on the the side of the street you want to be as getting across is a RISK. They drive like crazy fools. trying to cross is like risking your life, There are very few lights , but you may have to walk several long blocks to cross safely. While we were there there also... The Costera has needed an overhaul before there was even the drug cartel problem. My beloved Acapulco has broken my heart. I used to go there when the Hyatt Hotel was NOT a dump like it has been for the last 20 years. The Bay gets more polluted every year. There are no more nice clothing and sports shops on... More

The Costera from one end to the other is filled with many bars , Restaurants or shops to stick your head in for awhile. On the weekend especially you still get a good crowd of walkers along the way. This city still has so much potential it's sad that the international tourist do not get here as much as they... More

There are lots of big hotels, but they cannot charge much because the traffic is terrible, the streets are a mess, the stores and restaurants are mostly uninteresting, and the night clubs are so loud that it is hard to sleep, even with earplugs. Because it has a great beach, it has potential, but it needs a lot of leadership... More

Acapulco has received some bad and undeserved press of late. People give too much credit to the media that tends to exaggerate and make the exception the rule. Acapulco is a town that in its heyday was the creme de la creme of vacation destinations. It has suffered from some government neglect of its infrastructure but it is recovering nicely.... More

If you can't find it along the Costera it probably doesn't exist in Acapulco; well almost. We heard Home Depot was not on the Costera. We loved it, shopped there, ate there, got our crafts there and our hotel was there. Probably the best location in Acapulco especially if you like the busses or want to keep taxi costs down.
