A trip to Todos Santos should include a visit to the mission on the square. Classic, simple spot with local sculptures inside. It is easy to imagine years ago people gathering around the mission and praying together as a community. We visited right after Christmas so the ornate, sweet manger scene was still on the altar.

We visited the Misione de Nuestra Senora de Pilar. It is very close to the Hotel California. In the famous Eagle's song about Hotel California they mention it as part of the lyrics to the song - There she stood in the doorway; I heard the mission bell And I was thinking to myself, "This could be Heaven or this... This is a pretty church obviously in use by the locals. It really is NOT the original structure nor is there anything in evidence or available to explore of the original mission. For information and as the history, there is 1 fairly undetailed plaque outside the doors. If you are coming to Todos Santos it's worth taking a look at... More

What a nice and clean Mission with a quaint view of the town and its people. It does not take long to visit so, I would suggest you may a quick stop in to see this historic mission.

To my understanding this mission dedicated in 1792 is the furthest south of the all father Serra missions. Go ahead stand at the door and enter respectfully. It is the real center of Catholicism in the area. Our Christmas guests often attend high mass and are not disappointed even if it is too full to gain entry Note that if... More

We were lucky to show up there when there was a wedding service. It seemed local and everyone was dressed up for it there were so many people they were spilling out the front door , yet were able to get up there for a closer look. It`s a very unique looking church and i especially enjoyed the warm smell... More

Unlike many cathedrals and churches in Latin America, this one is really simple with nice clean lines from an architectural standpoint. Although it's not ornate it's still impressive with a beautiful stained glass window behind the altar.

Our Lady of Pilar Church (English translation) is the most recognized place of worship in the small populated city of Todos Santos. This church was originally one of the first four missions of the 28 that were constructed by the Spaniards as they ventured farther and farther north along the Baja Peninsula, founding missions and settlements along the way. The... More
