To my understanding this mission dedicated in 1792 is the furthest south of the all father Serra missions. Go ahead stand at the door and enter respectfully. It is the real center of Catholicism in the area. Our Christmas guests often attend high mass and are not disappointed even if it is too full to gain entry Note that if... More

We were lucky to show up there when there was a wedding service. It seemed local and everyone was dressed up for it there were so many people they were spilling out the front door , yet were able to get up there for a closer look. It`s a very unique looking church and i especially enjoyed the warm smell... More

Unlike many cathedrals and churches in Latin America, this one is really simple with nice clean lines from an architectural standpoint. Although it's not ornate it's still impressive with a beautiful stained glass window behind the altar.

Our Lady of Pilar Church (English translation) is the most recognized place of worship in the small populated city of Todos Santos. This church was originally one of the first four missions of the 28 that were constructed by the Spaniards as they ventured farther and farther north along the Baja Peninsula, founding missions and settlements along the way. The... More

Most of the little towns of the Baja California peninsula that I have seen have little churches to match. This one was relatively large and very peaceful and pretty.

Thought it was the original church but it is a recently constructed replica of the church. Doesn't feel old world or particularly Catholic. Not really historic.

When in Cabo San Lucas on our Panama Canal Cruise, we took the "Todos Santos & Hotel California" tour. We went up the cost to the town of Todos Santos. One of our stops was at the Misione de Nuestra Senora de Pilar. We found it to be a peaceful and quiet place, around the corner from Hotel California and... More

The Mission is right beside the Hotel California. It was very quiet when I was there with no mass occurring. The inside is beautifully decorated and is well worth checking out if you are in the area.

This 300 year old church is just a block from Hotel California. The church is very quaint and rich in heritage. The church boats a bronze sculpture of Mary, Joseph and Jesus, by artist Benito Ortega Vargas. I had the great pleasure of meeting him, at his studio which is less than 100 yards from the church.
