Unfortunately, during our visit over Christmas 2014, the weather was cooler and the wind was up. This beach is not protected so the waves were very strong and we couldn't swim there. We have been swimming at this beach before and it is beautiful but this year the weather would not cooperate! I would recommend visiting this beach though. It... More

The little beach bar here is amazing. They make the most amazing Margarota on the planet. Be careful though :P Meet the people that live in the area and the "travelers" as Gary calls them. If you Get to this bar make sure to say hello from Neil and Cathy for me.

The beach is wonderful and the food is to die for but the pina coladas will keep you coming back time and again. The restaurant with the boat had the most delicious guacamole and chips, had more than one of these over the week.

Past Balandras beach just a short way is Tecolate. It's a completely different vibe. Different kind of beach, lots of rocks, long flat beach to walk on. Plenty of places on the beach to grab lunch and drinks, rent kayaks or take a boat across the bay. When I was there, it was cool and really windy, so I couldn't... More

Visited on a windy day, so surf was rough and high on the beach. Restaurants weren't open yet, so vendors were quick to charge $10 for use of banos while someone chiseled concrete above my head! Safety and sanitation are recommended. Several restaurant choices are here, and several boat excursions to Espiritu, and no facilities at Balandra Beach, so the... More

Tecolote is close to Balandra Beach. There are a few restaurants/bars lining the beach. Not as calm and pristine as Balandra, but with more facilities.

Popular local spot because they have kayak, quads, jet ski rentals, along with restaurants, washrooms and there are bbq pits along the beach you can use of your own cooking. Lots of local Families with Kids on the weekends.

At the end of the road lies Tecolote Beach. It doesn't look like much, but the atmosphere is totally laid back. The beach itself is nice, and a great place to grab a palapa and plunk down with a good book. There are a few rather "beachy" bars and snackeries, and you can substitute "beachy" with "ratty" if you prefer,... More

Have visited La Paz a number of times and never miss going to Tecolote Beach a few times during our stay. Beers are ice cold and Margarita's are great at the open bar. Enjoy having some great seafood from the Azul restaurant on site, visiting with other travelers and taking in the sun and the ocean from this great beach.... More

El Tecolote offers a reasonable beach, but even better - several restaurants with freshly-prepared seafood and great service, all overlooking/right ON the beach. We enjoyed a HUGE plate of Baja nachos, loaded with meat, cheese, beans, jalapenos, with sour cream and salsa; with a couple of icey-ice-cold beers, we thoroughly relaxed after our day spent swimming at Balandra Beach. Ahhhhhhh
