At the end of the road lies Tecolote Beach. It doesn't look like much, but the atmosphere is totally laid back. The beach itself is nice, and a great place to grab a palapa and plunk down with a good book. There are a few rather "beachy" bars and snackeries, and you can substitute "beachy" with "ratty" if you prefer,... More

Have visited La Paz a number of times and never miss going to Tecolote Beach a few times during our stay. Beers are ice cold and Margarita's are great at the open bar. Enjoy having some great seafood from the Azul restaurant on site, visiting with other travelers and taking in the sun and the ocean from this great beach.... More

El Tecolote offers a reasonable beach, but even better - several restaurants with freshly-prepared seafood and great service, all overlooking/right ON the beach. We enjoyed a HUGE plate of Baja nachos, loaded with meat, cheese, beans, jalapenos, with sour cream and salsa; with a couple of icey-ice-cold beers, we thoroughly relaxed after our day spent swimming at Balandra Beach. Ahhhhhhh

This is one of my usual stops when I am in La Paz. We always stop for a margarita in the afternoon just to enjoy the view of Espiritu Santo. And we often meet interesting people from around the world.

Take the time. Rent a car. Take a bus. Whatever...just get out there and soak up the peace. Sundays are not so good if you don't like people. It's packed full of families. Beautiful, though, either way.

If you like calm, turquoise water, you will love El Tecolote. It costs about 200 pesos by taxi to get out there, but the taxi driver will come back for you at whatever time you say. There are a couple of outdoor bar, restaurants, where you can sit in the shade and have a drink. There was very little current,... More

Spent the day at Playa Balandra a few kilometres before Playa Tecolote, we drove over to have a quick drink/snack at Tecolote before heading back to La Paz. We enjoyed some nice margaritas and chips/guacomole, came to 385 Pesos for 2 huge (strong) margaritas and a nice dish of fresh guacomole served by a very handsome barkeep. Strong breeze and... More

Great place very rustic, nice people, food can be good. I like it out there. It's safe and pretty, close to Ballandra. Bring your own cooler. Spend some money on shrimp tacos. Buy a t shirt, ( playera) from the little guy with no teeth.

Nice spot for lunch and cerveza! overlooking the Sea of Cortez and Isla Espiritu Santa, the beach is also lovely but can get a bit windy.

If you like family beaches, then this is it for La Paz. Situated opposite the offshore islands, it is THE play ground for locals. Half a dozen very nice restaurants as well.
