Tecolote Beach is only a kilometer outside of Balandra Beach and a short drive from La Paz. The beach is almost as nice as Balandra, but it's benefit are the restaurants right on the beach that'll give you a chance to refuel mid-day. If you walk around the edge of the beach, you'll hit a rocky area with beautiful views.
This is a little piece of Cabo San Lucas in an extremely remote location just north of La Paz. There are two separate companies offering services on this beach however neither of them have been well maintained. The first wave runner I rented had engine issues and the second one was not much better. This is a long way out...

After a day of fishing the Gulf of California we ask our captain to stop at Tecolate Beach and enjoy the laid back ambience at the Palapa Azul right on the beach. Their camarones cocktail is the best! They make a great margarita too or just enjoy a cerveca or two.
The last beach on the road to the tip of the Pichilingue peninsula with a view of Isla Espiritu Santo We went there on Easter (very crowded with families) and on a weekday (very empty). Long beach of white sand with red hills behind and desert vegetation. Palapas on the beach and restaurants for refreshments. Quieter at Balandra Beach but still a lovely place to visit. We parked at Balandra and standup paddled around to Tecolote, had lunch then paddled back on a lovely calm day. Do it early in case the winds arrive.
Like many La Paz beaches, you won't find sugar sand, but the beautiful scenery, and easy access to an ice cold cervesa and lunch was why we spent one day here. Stake out your spot at one of the many palapas, clear the round rocks from under your towel, sit back, read a book, or be entertained by folks kayaking...

Food that's good, drinks that are good and the beach at your fingertips...it just doesn't get much better for hanging out at the beach!
Beautiful view. the couple of restaurants have great drinks, cold beer and fresh seafood. There are also tour guides that can take you to the island or set you up with a kayak or a seadoo.
Playa Tecolote is nice, has some activities and can have some places where you can eat. I prefer beaches like Playa Balandra.
