I went simply to earn my Bareboat Captains certification. However my captain/instructor, Tim Geisler, had a different approach. It was far beyond my expectations...it was a complete and fantastic adventure. Not only did I complete my certification, but I also had a phenomenal sailing trip as did the other 3 students aboard. Tim's knowledge of sailing,of the Sea of Cortez,... More

We went in Nov 2015 for a 7 nite small expedition ship cruise on the Safari Endeavor. The ship holds about 85 pax, but this cruise only had 57 people. Ship leaves from La Paz and goes north for a while, but it all depends on the weather and sea conditions. Returns to La Paz. Good food, lots of stuff... More

If you want to learn to sail or be certified to charter bare boats, I highly recommend Nautilus Sailing. Our 42-foot Catalina was in excellent condition. Our instructor Len Malloy was wonderful fun and an excellent teacher, and the location in the Sea of Cortez was awesome. I could not recommend this week-long cruise more highly.

I just returned from the Sea of Cortez with my Bareboat captains license and the experience exceeded all of my expectations. Tim Geisler, the owner of Nautilus Sailing, was our captain and instructor for the week. You can't find a better instructor than Tim, great attitude, super knowledgeable and knows the Sea of Cortez like his backyard. I received my... More

Just returned from a 13 day trip aboard the Rocio del mar , trip started at Puerto Penasco and ended at Cabo san Lucas. The boat is comfortable , with good beds , important on a liveaboard. Food was freshly made and never repeated. Diving in northern sea of cortez needed a 3mm , and southern part just a rash... More

Just finished a trip with Nautilus Sailing School from Puerto Vallarta to La Paz, crossing the Sea of Cortez. A fantastic journey which included dolphins surfing the bow, and a whale surfacing 20 yards from the Boat. My third live aboard trip with Nautilus and I highly recommend them for quality sailing instruction in the Sea of Cortez and other... More

i was attracted to this trip primarily by seeing pictures on the Lindblad website of gray whale calves, and some moms, coming up so close to the Zodiac style boats that people were petting and kissing them. I worried that that was an unusual experience, but as you will see from my pictures, we had that experience as well. Each... More

What an amazing experience. A great mix of beautiful sandy beaches, blue water and education. Ben was a fantastic teacher who was really patient, with a strong passion for sailing. I would recommend Nautilus Sailing school to anyone who was looking to learn the ins and outs of chartering their own sailboat.

Bahia Puerto Balandra is within the Balandra Zone of Ecological Conservation and Community Interest north of La Paz and just south of Isla Espirito Santo. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Protected Zone. It is as amazing a white sand beach as you can find anywhere. It is a 30 minute boat ride north of La Paz. The sand is... More
