We did a day trip to the Hong Islands and enjoyed it as a day out. The Islands are quite beautiful, but what really struck me was how dirty the waters were. They and the island are littered with rubbish. It's a shame, but it's clearly not just down to tourists to maintain the Islands. The authorities also need to... More

Ko Hong is in my opinion the best of the islands around Ao Nang. You can take a longtail boat out there from Ao Nang. Start by sailing around the island and a trip into the lagoon and spend a few hours on the large beach. 300 baht per piece. person. If you want to save that, there are a... More

We did a sunset tour with the fantastic John Gray's Sea Canoe people. Just amazing. Beautiful, sheer, limestone islands that are hollow inside. We kayaked under and into them with our guide. It was calm, gentle, spiritual. We stopped and played on upturned canoes with the crew and passengers. We made gorgeous floral offerings to the gods of the sea,... More

We (I, my wife and my children) bought a day tour to visit 3 islands in Krabi, and Hong Island is the highlight of the trip. We stay at a hotel in Ao Nang, and a van driver came to pick up us about 9 o’clock to the company private pier. Then, tour guides explained about safety and our schedule... More

we rented our own longtail boat at 2500 baht from the boat ticketing at aonang town, and got out to hong islands around 2pm in the afternoon. most tours take place in the morning, so when we arrived, everyone else was leaving for the day. for awhile, the whole island was ours! :) the downside, perhaps, was that the tides... Visited here as the main stop of a half day speedboat tour. The beach, water & rock structures together made the place amazing. Sand was soft and white and water was clear and quite shallow. Only downside is that the tide crept up quickly throughout the morning and by 11:30 a.m. there was no beach left. An early start would... More

I only picked Hong Islands because it comes with kayaking as an option. However, despite paying for this option, i was still let down by Barracudas Tour which promised me kayaking only to tell me when we reached there that water too choppy sir...the rest of the islands was really boring, sadly. If you only have time for one island... More

Hong island is roughly a 40 minute long boat ride from the pier in Ao Nang. The island is relatively small and is characterized by a beautiful beach on one side, and on the other side, a gorgeous lagoon. You can spend an afternoon here, snorkeling just off the beach (lots of fish to see) and then visiting the lagoon.... More
