A light to warn shipping was first established on the Southerly tip of the Isle of Wight in 1323. Today the distinctive octagonal tower of St.Catherine's Lighthouse provides a waymark for vessels navigating in the English Channel and a guide to vessels approaching the Solent. Each tour is approximately 40 minutes. Tours of St Catherine's Lighthouse are operated by Andrew Booth, under licence from The Corporation of Trinity House.

My partner and I both visited St Catherine’s Lighthouse back in August; this being our first visit to this attraction, this will not be our last. The entrance fee is a reasonable £4.00pp, which is well worth the money especially when you get a personal experienced knowledgeable guide that will accompany you up to the top of the lighthouse. A... More

A fascinating place to visit, which is not highly publisised or signposted and all the better for it. There is no car park, but a short walk from nearby road parking. You may have a short wait before joining a small tour group; ours was in the company of a very knowlegeable tour lady who was extremely passionate about the lighthouse,... A short walk down to the light house is completely worth it. There is loads of walking around the area. The lighthouse is fully of history, even ghost stories! All the guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. You get to experience all the levels of the lighthouse, right up to the light. I would definitely recommend it, the view is... More

Having parked in the village and tramped across a field with a wonderful view on a sunny but blustery day, we were met by a lovely chap whose name I am afraid I didn't catch. After a brief history of lighthouses and the Island coastline and its navigational problems, all illustrated perfectly, we made our way to the beautiful lighthouse.... More

Being from the Midlands we don't see many lighthouses! So it was a learning experience for the kids, who enjoyed the climb to the top and the size of the light. The guide was very knowledgeable and gave an interesting talk. Be aware there is no parking on site, you have to park in the village and walk down the... More

Was very cheap considering you get a 45-60 minute tour. Bob was very knowledgeable and gave a fun tour. You get to stop at different points going up and you also get to go to the very top and actually see the light. My 13 year old brother was very interested in the history of the lighthouse over time.

Visited the lighthouse on a rather damp summer afternoon to be met by John who gave us the tour. John was the perfect tour guide, so enthusiastic and made the tour interesting and very informative for all ages. We all really enjoyed it and would recommend it to everyone. If you do have young children there is a height restriction... More

Highly recommended, very interesting tour for only 4 pounds. The lighthouse has a fascinating history and there are also some lovely walks. Beware the last set of stairs to ascend the lighthouse are very steep (more like a ladder).

We visited on a wet day in August 2015 and was warmly welcomed by one of the volunteers Bob. He was very knowledgeable and spoke to us all very well and made the talk interesting. Answered questions appropiately to the age of the child asking and elabertated to the older ones. We weren't hurried but had time to have a... More
