It is always fun standing where history has (supposedly) been made. THis monument is seeing the effects of much time and many a tide. Tough to access because the road is well, pretty rough and sucky. The tide crashing in and out of the channel is really quite cool and fun however.

This was beautiful and we loved the drive out there, luckily we had a mini van because we didn't know that the road was so rocky getting out there. You could see both the Atlantic and the Carribean and was stunning. We really enjoyed it.

We stayed at Stella Maris and drove up to Columbus Point one day. The bay is beautiful with pretty good snorkeling. If you read Columbus's diaries (they are free online), you can see exactly what he describes when you see Columbus Point. The view is incredible from up on top of the hill, where the monument is. If you are... More

Rugged bike hike on a very rocky road that takes about 45 minutes from the Cape Resort. I thought it was worth it but the snorkling is better just down the beach from the Cape. The monument is impressive and the view is beautiful. If you like to bike and are physically able, this is a fun day trip.

Although the road is a bit rough it is well worth the drive to Columbus Monument. Great views and interesting history. A must see while on Long Island.

Ok who knows if historically accurate, but the supposed site of a Columbus water search stop was breathtakingly beautiful. Road is a dirt track. We used an SUV but saw a normal car make it. Cliffs are unprotected, so not for children without a tether...

WE always visit Columbus Point when we visit Long Island. It is a tough drive as the road is not maintained well..but well worth it. The scenic view of where the atlantic meets the carribbean is absolutely beautiful. If you go up there to watch the sunset...which is a must...don't forget your bug spray!

This is one of our favorite snorkel spots on the island. The area is protected by some large uninhabited cays so the water is usually calm. The drive to the monument can be tough so just go slowly. The hike to the top of the hill is worth it for the views. Be careful along the ledge as the limestone... More

In my opinion this is a "must see" on the island. It is picture perfect and absolutely breath taking. I imagine it still looks a lot like it did in 1492.
