This island is awesome! not super touristy but enough to keep you comfortable. Stunning cliffs on the north end and sandy beaches all along the west side and much of the east side as well. Plantations, caves, blue holes, and awesome food.

A group of us spent 6 days on long island with the intent of fishing for bone fish. We were referred to Colin Cartwright for guiding us and we rented a secluded three bedroom house with an unobstructed view of the Atlantic beach. The morning greeted us with 78 degree temps and a balmy sky. We made coffee and sat... More

Beautiful island but any road other than the only main road are horrible to drive on. Many run down vehicles and homes in disrepair, but still very beautiful landscape

If ever there was anyplace on earth to get away from it all...this is it. This island is non commercial and is like stepping back in time, only with the modern amenities of home. You won't be running out to Wal-Mart or Kroger's on this island, they don't exist. Just pristine beaches and the beautiful ocean and sea.

Long Island is very Interesting. The local towns are colorful. Plenty of local atmosphere. Cliff against the Atlantic provide plenty of excitement, and the tide pools are wonderful places to play. The beaches along the gulf side are long, splendid locations to swim and relax. Lots to do, without the glitz. The people are super friendly, really wonderful.

No 5 star hotels or shopping centers just local Island life with lots of places to enjoy a beer or a rum punch or fresh fish fry or conch salad after a day at a beach or fishing or snorkeling or diving or boating. . In clear water, clean sandy beaches... More

I am hoping to replace the picture of Long Island, New York that is listed here on Trip Advisor. After our 2nd trip there, Long Island is now solidly in the lead as our favorite Bahamian Island. We've been to Eleuthera 3 times and Andros and Guana Cay once. We love how friendly the people are and the variety of... More

The Atlantic beaches are some of the wildest and most beautiful in the world, and most are remote, so chances are you'll be alone on your selected beach if you aren't near one of the few resorts. The lee side beaches are equally beautiful, but more tranquil with sand like powdered sugar. We like to rent a car and drive... More
