One of the areas popular tour spots. You can almost miss it as you are driving out of town. Take a little time to read the land marks and take some pictures. :)

Went during The Bahamas' Independence weekend, so there was a celebration on the park. It was a true celebration Bahamian-style: food, drink, music, dancing and junkanoo (music that is uniquely Bahamian) - all on the beach.

There are also some picnic tables in the shade and what looks like an old Olympic monument? I wasn't quite sure . . . The cross is beautiful and well-kept though, definitely go... More

Beautiful beach plus a small monument to commemorate Christopher Columbus landfall but not much else to see or do.

We stopped here for a picnic lunch on a few occasions during our stay and it is always a lovely experience. The beach here is gorgeous and there are picnic tables and plenty of shade trees. There is even an Olympic torch stop from the Mexico games which makes for a cool (and confusing) photo op.

What a great beach! It's so cool to see the history of the area and take in the beautiful scenery. A great beach for swimming, as the water is much calmer than many places on the island. It's also near the main town. A great place to relax and spend an afternoon. There is a small shaded space if you... More

San Salvador is reputedly where Columbus first made landfall in the Americas. There are three different monuments around the island commerating his first steps onto the island.

It is a suqare place, by the sea, where Admiral Morrison, the great scholar of Columbus, decided to erect a monument. It is a white cross, which has been unfortunatly obscured by a quiork cross offered by Bacardi for the 1992 celebrations of the Duiscovery of the new World. Locals have changed that into a place for cook outs and... More
