It's a stage setup in the middle of what appears to be a cruise ship tourist spot. Some shops, bars, restaurants, nothing impressive. Bands play at times, which were ok.

The square is one of the islands quaint traditions. This is where you'll find local music and flair on the weekend and special days. While we were there there was a Junkanoo Festival which provided some really fun entertainment. Local bands and singers ply their trade on the stage for all to enjoy.

Was there last Saturday night. Local vocalist singing Christmas songs. Several restaurants around this square including a Pizza Hut which seemed to be packed with local families.

We were very surprised to see how quiet it was this trip. It was just like a Ghost Town, and seemed really strange. We have been here several times over the years and this was the first time it has been this bad. Locals even said it has been bad and things need to change. Very noticeable.

Went to the square on our last friday night in Lucayan. The band was good, and when it wasn't playing, the dj had local line dancing songs, with the moves built into lyrics. Every age from 4 - 74 up and dancing. It was something for both tourists and locals. And an amazing male limbo dancer.

Good local entertainment through out the weekend. The locals and tourists all come to visit for the shows. Lots of tables and chairs for all to find a place to sit.

I liked the local rake & scrape group's explanation of music history - help visitors appreciate music. I did NOT like set up because HALF the seats were reserved for people who never came while I stood the whole time. It's US tourists that are going to spend $$ to come so why save seats for politicians etc. The venue... More

Live music. Children and adults are encouraged to dance. Emcee arranges games. You can buy drinks and food and sit at one of the many tables in the square

In summer months Count Basie Square always has music or activities. Lots of places to sit and relax with food or a cool drink. Great place to hang out!
