We felt like two people stranded on a deserted island. If I had to shoot a caribbean calendar, this would be the beach I would choose. The waters crystal clear in all shades of blue and seagreen.

Moved to the island over a year ago. Barbary beach is secluded and hard to find. It really is the same beach as fortune beach separated by a canal. I recommend just going to fortune beach because it's easier to find, it's still secluded but there are people here. You do not want to get caught on Barbary Beach alone...

We read how this beach was very secluded so we drove out (rented a scooter) to enjoy our afternoon. Interesting to find as there are no signs indicating you arrived at the beach, you just have roads heading into the trees to the beach. We pulled in a road and there was no one in site. 5 minutes later a...

It was worth the drive to find this beautiful beach and have it all to ourselves. Can't believe there were no buildings or boats or anything within miles. Walked for two hours and only saw three people! Pack a picnic lunch and gas up the car before you go because there is NOTHING nearby. No facilities.
If you visit Grand Bahama and rent a car, it's worth a 30 minute drive East from Freeport to visit Barbary Beach. We visited twice and two days and saw no one else there.
The area is perfect for sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling along the rocks that form a canal. There is no main parking lot. Just follow the signs...

i love the place.beautiful weather and nice people.i would revisit soon.wonderful vacation.alot of fun for the family
If you want a secluded, quiet and beautiful beach, this is the one to visit. We went in January so this is the winter time in the Bahamas, however, the water was still about 65 degrees and beautiful. Great place to snorkle, picnic, or just go and enjoy the beach. Very quiet and secluded.
Finding it without help was an adventure but rewarding. Spent two days there and saw a total of 6 other humans, all of them nice. Snorkeling was ok but not great, found a couple of small rock formations 30 feet from the beach and occassional colorful coral. We benefitted from the beach being recently cleaned (by evidence of an overflowing...

A wonderful place! Hardly anyone there. Beach/seashore is a bit rocky in places so wear some water shoies.
