The area is inundated with vendors, most doing their best to promote their own products. Most often the vendors would casually greet you and immediately engage in a sales pitch. There are several vendors promoting a package for local establishments by offering "free" items such as breakfast. One resort is pushing sales through walking vendors. Kind of hard to avoid... More

This was an awesome spot to visit; so many things going on here - most of the water tours left from here; some of the vendors are willing to haggle a bit, but you won't save too much - although the pricing here is better than in the hotel.

I was expecting there to be a bit more at the market but it was still nice for something to do. A good selection of restaurants which was nice.

This is the newer part of Freeport and across the street from the only casino on the island. Well worth checking out if you're there to shop, but it'll take a few bucks to get out to the Marketplace. You can NOT walk it from the ship docking area. It's too far. This is just your average shopping area on... More

Wow! One small place after another with the friendliest people you will ever meet. There are all kinds of hand made & carved crafts as well as Jewelry Stores, Fragrance Stores, Clothing & Handbag Stores, etc. The Marketplace has everything you could possibly need.

The restaurants are excellent here. The shops are just ok. One major downside is the constant harassment from Time Share sales people! They are very pushy and take advantage of anyone who is trying to be polite. By the end of the trip I had to resort to being rude to them which I hate to do. This is one... More

This was my second visit to the Port Lucaya Marketplace. It was more lively this time than the last time I was there. It was a very festive atmosphere and seemed like people were having a good time eating and drinking in the food establishments. There was a local band playing music in traditional garb. The market shopping is the... More

There's not much at the cruise ship port in Freeport, so we caught a cab over to Port Lucaya. You can puchase a round trip "ticket" for $10 a person. The ride from the port was about 20 minutes long. This was also a good opportunity to see some of the countryside. There is a large marketplace in Port Lucaya... More
