We went for souvenirs there, and everyone was nice, but be careful they try to call you into their little space so you will buy from them! We only went to one bar there and I cannot remember the name but the staff was very friendly :)

The marketplace was a great way to kill time or get items not available at your hotel. There were two parts to the marketplace: The straw market and the main marketplace. The straw market has more souvenir type items. It seems like each booth has the same stuff at mostly the same pricing. As is with most tourist spots, the... More

Tour guide dropped us off for an hour and a half. We didn't need that much time. For starters the prices were unreal, quite pricey. A bag of chips in the back market was $7.00. Geeze, that was crazy for me. I did purchase some souvenirs and spoke with a few local vendors. I enjoyed seeing the local crafts and... More

The Marketplace has a straw market, some nice stores,, and some drug stores where you can buy miscellaneous items. The vendors at the straw market can be a little pushy but there are some wonderful stalls that sell unique items. The goods in the other stores are beautiful but pricey.

Expensive cab fare if your not staying in that area and all the stores carry the same stuff .. small breach area and that's where they run all the excursions from

Our hotel was across the street so it was nice in the late afternoon to get a break from the beach and just walk around the marketplace. We went there in the evening too. Everyone bought lots of souvenirs there.

Some of the stores with handmade items were nice, however it was shop after shop of the same items and no prices, so you had to ask about everything and wondered if you were getting an honest response. We bought bracelets for the kids the first day and they broke after wearing them once. Went back 4 days in a... More

Your usual local market with "made in China" merchandise that is very expensive. There are some local wares to be found. Several restaurants (food is expensive) and bars. The Conch Shack at the back is interesting! Liquor stores sell beer cheap too. Count Basi's has music at night and is next to the Rum Runner's Bar.

The Port Lucaya Marketplace is right across the street from both Memories Grand Bahama and the Grand Lucayan. Some people may consider it "too touristy", but I figure I am a tourist - so what? I loved all the little vendor stalls, the colorful layout, the various restaurants. You can actually find some items made locally, much of what you... More
