The Xanadu Beach is right next to a set of condominiums and the Xanadu Beach hotel, which is about to reopen. It is a nice beach., frequented by a number of people. There is some shade available on the beach that you can pull up a chair and enjoy the cool breeze, as you take a break form the water.... More

This is a beautiful Bahamian beach with crystal clear water, but unfortunately it's basically abandoned. Almost every place surrounding this beach is empty; the hotel is closed and there are apartments in the area but not a lot of people seem to stay there. It's quite sad because it's such a beautiful place that deserves more visitors! It's a really... More

My husband and I have been scouring all the Grand Bahama beaches we can get onto and it's not for the appeals of entertainment or food - and we loved this one. The sand was pretty (much nice than the one we've paid to stay at - Taino Beach), the water was calmer and clearer too. We walked to the... More

Xanadu Resort was closed and not accessible but the beach is. Since not many knew you can access the beach, this place was detached from the crowded beach front resorts area.

This beach resort area is the ultimate in sad. The apartment building on the beach is empty and abandoned. Consequently the area is run down, unkept, garbage everywhere and just gross. There is a burnt up boat lounging there and one lone lady with a barely standing table trying to sell her wares. It is the saddest thing. Don't bother... More

Beautiful beach but everything around is closed so bring your cooler with some refreshments. One good thing you'll have lots of room.

Wow - it doesn't seem that long ago when me and my girlfriend ended up at one of those timeshare lunches/talks here and I almost considered buying since I was going to Freeport every summer back in the mid-80's!! Just reading these recent comments is so sad. I read that this is now a public beach, but I remember when... More

We spent our honeymoon in the Xanadu nearly 25 years ago (and the building was pretty desolate and in disrepair back then, although our suite was very nice and comfortable), but we were really hoping to spend our 25 year anniversary there and are very very sad to see it's closed. Wish someone would buy it and re-open - it's... More

Was really sad to see that the "Xanadu" itself had closed & their beach & facilities were in disrepair! We have fond memories of the place when it was busy and happening!! But, the beach outside of the resort is still beautiful and large. We noticed it was mainly locals & there was one little lady selling her hand made... More
