My one splurge on a recent cruise was to treat the family to one of the dolphin encounters on Nassau. Although I am not a fan of the island, this looked to be a decent reason to go ashore. Based on reviews and cost I opted for Blue Lagoon over Atlantis and was very happy with the experience.

The tagline is "Once in a Lifetime" but we plan to do this again. It was a great experience. The trainers were knowledgeable, a bit funny and engaging. The trainers made us feel very comfortable and safe.
The dolphins were so cute and very well trained. I was worried they would swim around and under me and catch me off...

We really enjoyed our dolphin swim and the "dolphin push". After coming back from changing we had left my and son's sneakers behind on the bench where everyone sits to listen to the orientation. Someone had taken both pairs of sneakers! My son did not have shoes to wear back on the ferry so I had to purchase some in...

This is my 2nd Dolphin Encounter (lst April 2006) at the Blue Lagoon. A wonderful experience with my granddaughters. Booked directly with Blue Lagoon via toll-free number. Booking with Carnival Cruise Line was double the price. Everything was better than before except they only gave you one picture of the entire event rather than 4 choices. The Blue Lagoon Island...

While staying on Paradise Island, we thought the only place to "Swim with the Dolphins" was at Atlantis for $220.00 per adult. The Comfort Suites recommended Dolphin Encounters at Blue Lagoon for $185.00 per adult. It is a five minute walk from Comfort Suites down to the ferry dock and them you take a lovely boat ride to Blue Lagoon...

I 100% agree with gatorliz's review below. I had the same exact experience, though it wasn't quite as a rush-rush experience once we got to the blue lagoon island. For the amount of money paid through the cruise ship excursion, I'm not 100% satisfied. NCL and Dolphin Encounters need to coordinate the timing better because it was cutting it close...

My family and I were just there last week and it was the highlight of our whole vacation! The dolphins were amazing, the island was absolutely beautiful and the staff were extremely fun and friendly. It is expensive, but so worth the money! Definitely spend the day at the island after your dolphin encounter - it's just lovely!!

We have taken this excursion, and it is a great time. We really enjoyed Andy The Dolphin.
The food on the island is good for beach burger fare.
