My Grandson and I ventured off the cruise ship to go on a walking adventure. First we went to the Royal Bahamas Police Force Station on East Street to pose by its cannons. Then a quick stop at Mortimer's Candy shop for some sweet Bahamian treats. Full of sugar we then went to the fort. We enjoyed the view of... More

Fort Fincastle is nice if you're into history or would love a great view (360 of the area from the water to city). However it's so small and limited that we left in under five minutes. You're crowded with people and besides this beautiful structure that you see in photos, there is nothing to see. Keep in mind, you pay... More

If you have the slightest interest in history, you'll want to take the time to visit the fort. It is on the highest point of the island and has views of the coastline, water tower and city. The shape is also unique. It is a small fort compared to others I have seen worldwide, but still part of the islands... More

Fort Fincastle is a very small fort located at the top of the hill right next to the Water Tower and the Queen's Staircase. While Fort Fincastle is very small in comparison to some of the other forts in the Caribbean (including Fort Charlotte in Nassau), it was a neat little attraction to visit and it's proximity to the Queen's... The fort itself, along with the water tower and Queen's staircase is not too big of a deal and a few blocks' walk from downtown but if you like walking it's worth a stop while exploring. The view of the city and harbor from the top is fabulous.

The view from the top is quite amazing. This place is historical and is right nearby the Queen's Staircase.

Its worth the$1.00 admission fee to take pics of the island since its so high up. The attraction it self sucks.

We rented a scooter and stopped by to have a look. The fort is quite small and closed on the afternoon we went by but worth a look as part of Nassau history. there is a nice park beside it as well.

You can reach Ft. Fincastle by climbing up the Queen's Staircase (see my review for directions and information) or by walking up East St from Bay St. (which is the main Nassau st.) I recommend going to Queens Staircase from Elizabeth St., visiting Ft. Fincastle and walking back down East. St. The total round trip is less than a mile... More

This is a very small Fort, but admission is only $1. It was cool to look around and the view from on top of the fort was great! We skipped the tour and just read the signs around the fort. It gave a lot of information. It was a nice way to spend the morning.
