I walked to The Retreat from my hotel on a Sunday and found it very easily. The national park itself is very well organised. It's only a small area but the pathway is well maintained and the signage very good. There are some lovely peaceful grassy clearings where the sunlight pours in and some seating is provided in strategic locations.... More

A hidden secrete of Nassau, the more you know about plants the more you will enjoy this world class botanical collection. Skip the Botanical Garden and go here instead. A must see for any Gardener.

For the previous reviewer, the challenge in finding this attraction is that it is known by multiple names and many people know one name but not the others. We were advised, quite wisely, to ask for Victoria College, which is apparently universally known and which is across Village Road from the entrance to the park. The entrance can also be... More

Spent half the day trying to find it. Bahamas National Trust said no one was there who could tell me where it was, call back.... Asked lots of people, police at police station did not know what I was talking about. No signs anywhere. Seems to be the case with lots of places.....

I went here with an islander for some bird watching. We didn't see much in the way of birds the day we were there, but the trails we went on had really interesting flora. The garden is managed by the BNT and I think I was told this park has the most diverse palm trees in one place. I wouldn't... More

This palm reservation is a delightful place to spend some time on a hot day in Nassau. The park was closed to the public because of a private tea that was scheduled but the caretaker welcomed us to tour by ourselves. He was very friendly and gave us all the info we needed to explore the trails and see the... More

I chose to visit the Retreat because six cruise ships were in port the same day we were and I really don't like to deal with crowds. Negatives: (1) It is tricky to find as apparently the natives call it the National Heritage garden, not the Retreat. (2) Although our bus (number 11) went right by the place, it only... More

I enjoying walking throught the paths and little waterfalls. The staff was also very nice. The traffic can be heard, but it is a nice oasis in the middle of the city. Would recommend!

A must visit for anyone interested in plant life. Guided tours available. Nestled in the middle of a residential area, you would never find it unless you knew where you were going. I frequent it regularly.

The staff are so helpful. the gardens are lovely, lush and full of exotic plants. If you are a birder, there are many birds to spy with your binoculars. Also, check while visiting if there is a talk being presented on some very interesting topics, that are more often than not free. First Saturdays of every month is a farmer's... More
