It was pretty typical for a visitor centre in the Islands, well stocked with books on marine life for snorkelers/divers and all the usual brochures on things to do, places to stay, etc.

Open daily, except for Christmas day, from 8am – 4:30pm, located within easy walking distance from the ferry dock in Cruz Bay, and having a reasonably sized parking lot if you arrived via the car barge, the Virgin Island National Park Visitor Center is an excellent place to start your day trip to the beautiful island of St. John which... Took an excursion off a Holland America cruise and we agreed this was our best excursion of the trip. Great narrated boat ride from St Thomas to St John on the Island Girl, where we got an informative bus tour of the National Park. One stunningly beautiful beach after another, facts about geography, flora and fauna. Real estate prices ($$$$$$$).... More

We were on a self guided tour of St. John's and the Virgin Islands National Park around Trunk Bay, The Cruz Bay Visitor Center is situated in the very quaint, picturesque sheltered waterfront of... This Visitor Center is located right on a dock in Cruz Bay. Nice spot to work I'd say. They have some National Park things for sale, as well as some essentials like sunglasses and oh yea, coffee!! Nothing is cheap in the islands, so expect to pay, but the views just make up for everything. Park ranger was very helpful... More

A lot of people who visit St John, do so primarily for hiking within the Virgin Islands National Park (covering 60% of the island). Situated just a short walk away from the harbour, the visitor centre in Cruz Bay is a good starting point for your trip. From here, you can get maps and information about all the available trails...
