Great snorkeling in the bay - calm. Lots of turtles near shore eating in the grasses. Other fish can be observed by snorkeling near the rocks either toward Maho or east side. Avoid early morning or late afternoon due to bugs! The road is being paved so plan on entry and exit issues for the next few weeks.

It's about a 1/4 mile or so to the beach. You can continue further through the turtle nesting area. There are a couple of vistas along the way. It's a rocky path in places, but can be done in flip flops, just be sure to lift your feet. The beach is your reward, with plenty of tropical fish, rays and... More

Short hike down a nice bridge walkway through the woods. Great photo ops along the way and at both ends of the beach. It is very secluded and private.

Small beach but nice sand and not very crowded. We went to the left side and enjoyed the clear water and shade.

Very easy short trail around a salt pond. But there is a mild grade either down or up depending on where you start from. For birders, this is a well known location. We saw LOTS of black necked stilts and white cheeked pintails with a few others including a sora. Watch out for the no see ums. I got chewed... More

This was a nice little .25 mile hike with a bridge rough the mangroves at the end. You go past some ruins and along a bridge to the beach, then my kids discovered could have just walked down the road for a minute or two and gotten there much more quickly :)

While one can drive right up to Francis Bay Beach, you will need a high clearance 4WD vehicle to do so; otherwise, you will need to take this easy, short 0.5 mile (0.8k) loop trail to reach the beach. However, even if one can drive right up to the beach, you may still wish to take this nice trail instead.... More

Very easy trail; interesting ruins of a very fancy house, then a nice boardwalk along the pond with various waterfowl. We parked at the sign at the end of the paved road. The boardwalk ends at the beach where the dirt road ends. We walked back along the dirt road, which is level but has low wet spots that were... More

My wife and I got up early to do the Friday AM birdwatching tour and were not disappointed. Saw numerous waterfowl in the marsh as identified by the ranger. The beach itself is also excellent with many turtles apparent for snorkelers.
