FrancIs Bay is one of the calmest, of not the calmest beach on St. John. It is harder to get to than any beach, but way worth it because it is rare to find the 8 or so car parking lot filled. The snorkeling on the reef to the right of the bay is good, but the sea grass across... More

“Very nice trail”

We took this trail with the very capable VINPS bird guide, Laurel. She introduced us to over 20 species in just a short early morning walk; delightful and a different view than the typical beach scene. More

“Terrific birdwatching!”

We loved this trail. We got there fairly early in the morning and saw the following, fairly easily: Mangrove Cuckoo, Little Blue Heron, Sora, American Coot, Moorhen, Pied-Billed Grebe, Blue-winged Teal, Ruddy Duck, White-Cheecked Pintail, and Scaly-Naped Pigeon. Bring binocs and a bird book. We didn't need to use our mosquito repellent, but maybe we just got lucky. More
