It is popular (my opinion) because (1) it is on the north shore (2) Very sandy beach (not all the beaches are), and (3) you can practically park on the beach. Parking fills up fast in the AM on a nice day.

Maho is every bit the classic Caribbean beach. Like other beaches on St John and elsewhere it has the crescent of smooth white sand, the tropical trees and greenery, and the sapphire blue water. Maho also has a near guarantee of seeing turtles! they're out in the middle over the grass. Just look for motionless snorkelers hovering over something. It's... More

Hands down one the best beaches ever! It is wonderful for snorkeling and paddle boarding. I see turtles all the time when I'm there.

Just beautiful. There are several beaches within walking distance from town and they're worth the hike. This is a bit further out but still well worth the journey. Fine, white sand and crystal-blue water. Relatively free of cruise ship tourists and screaming children (or yelling college students). Very relaxing. Ahhh.

Yards and yards of unspoiled sand close to the road (for those who carry the beach chairs and coolers.) The beach is so well protected that my five-year-old could walk 20 to 30 feet out into the water. Get there before 11 so you don't have to look too hard for a place to put the Jeep.

This long and narrow beach has many niches to find a secluded corner to call your own. It is a a calm spot that still has nice snorkeling, making it perfect for families, although there were plenty of couples as well. Absolutely beautiful.

This beach is constantly a pleasure to visit. We brought our grandchildren there because of the ease of accessing the water. We snorkeled and saw rays and turtles. Great for the whole family.

Best beach right next to the road. Beautiful white sand, lots of room and parking. Clear water. Very happy there.

It is a beautiful calm beach. I recommend getting there early before 11am or after 4:30, if you want the beach without a crowd.

Maho was the third beach we visited at St. John. Our group of 4 adults and 2 kids liked it the best of the ones we experienced (Trunk and St. Francis). We went back a second time. The beach is close to the road - not the negative you might think. It has a very gentle entry slope, a plus... More
