The bad news is that it's a half-hour taxi van ride ($15 per person) from the airport to the ferry. But you never have to wait for a taxi, and they are all air-conditioned. The good news is that the ferry is less than $10 per person and it is only a twenty-minute boat ride to St. John. The ferry... More

The ferry system down here is something to behold. They run on time, have friendly and helpful staff members and are reasonably priced.

Very inexpensive way to get from one island to the other. Rent a car in St.Thomas and get on the ferry for 25.00 one way. Car rental in St. Thomas is half of what it is in St. John..............

Liked fast Ferry service between St. Thomas & St. John's. Didnt like the way a guy hustled for tips.

We took the car ferry over to St John on Boyson.....the staff here were really rude, yelling at us as we backed onto the ferry and the bottom of our rental car scraped really bad because of the incline. The actual ride was fine but those people need attitude adjustments, especially the guy wearing the white shirt and I think... More

The ferry is, to my knowledge, unavoidable if you plan to travel between the islands. It's on time, and met my expectations in terms of travel time. There's no assigned seating - your ticket entitles you to any available seat at any level once on board.

Flew into St. Thomas, caught a cab to Red Hook Ferry which took about 40 minutes & then took the ferry to St. John (about a 15 minute ferry ride). Sat at the very front of the ferry with a great view. Even had a seagull flying/accompanying us from St. Thomas to St. John!

We took the walk on 8AM ferry to Cruz Bay in the morning and came back later on the 4PM. What a difference between the two! The cruise back was loaded with what I'm assuming were locals commuting back from work. 90% of the people on the boat were cool and quiet. But...there was a group of local drunk men... More

We always took the Westin ferry to our time share . Someone suggested the Red Hook Ferry and we were so impressed. We actually rode on the older ferry over and then had a chance to ride on the beautiful new blue and gold ferry. The ride was smooth and easy-though I was actually sad it was so quick because such... More

Tickets go on sale 1/2 hour before departure time. Tickets were cheaper than the taxi ride to get to ferry dock (additional cost for luggage). There is a bar and smoothie shop available while you are waiting for the ferry. Travel brochures were abundant as well. Short, comfortable ride between the islands, with the choice of upper deck seating or... More
