We took the Red Hook ferry several times and the experience was fine. My only complaint was for the attitude and lack of help from the staff. The porter was very helpful, taking our bags to the ferry, but the staff in the ticket booth on St. John were always border-line rude. Don't expect much in the way pleasantries with... More

Very easy to get to ferry dock from airport. Plan on a 30 minute taxi ride from airport and then 20 minute ferry ride. Very convenient and inexpensive.

While in St. Thomas, definitely worth taking the ferry over to St. John and spending the day. Beautiful beaches.

Cash. Bring it. You pay for yourself and bag(s). Get off at next island. Nice and easy. Did the roof on the way to St John, and enjoyed the AC deck on the way back to STT. I just bought a one way ticket, but they do have round trip.

Wish they could find a place to dock closer to the airport. Has to be a more streamlined way to get to St. John. Good value for the $6 price one way.

If you're planning on catching the ferry to St. John, be warned that the terminal only accepts cash to purchase tickets. You CANNOT use a debit or credit card to purchase tickets. The ferry ride was very quick - maybe 10 minutes across. We left 5 late and took another 5 to dock at St. John. Great photos if you're... More

Both times that we have traveled to St. Thomas, we have taken the ferry to St. John's out of Red Hook. Just know that you should take cash with you. I believe it is $50 for a round trip. Enjoy!

Our condo was in Cruz Bay on St. John, but we went back and forth to St. Thomas several times during our stay. The Red Hook Ferry was always reliable - on time every time! Just a 15 minute ride each way.
