There are three car barge companies... Two work together (Love City & Global Marine) and Boyson is separate. Be careful about buying a RT ticket because you'll need to keep that in mind. Also- watch out for island rush hour. We tried to make a 5:00 barge from Red Hook to Cruz Bay and it was completely full. Therefore, we... More

We thoroughly enjoyed touring the island with our rental car. Three car barge companies serve St Thomas to St John traffic. Buy one way unless you want to be held to one company's schedule. Avoid Boyson's (Mister B). Surly nasty crewman screamed at me (yes screamed) when I made an error getting on. Use one of the other two.

You probably don't have much choice if you wish to go from St. Thomas to St. John. But this ferry works just fine. When you get to the ticket counter you will already notice the very laid back pace on these islands. You will pay USD 7 as a tourist and USD 4 for "big suitcases", which eventually may lead... More

This review is about the passenger ferry between Red Hook on St Thomas and Cruz Bay on St John. We've been coming to St John for many many years and have seen many changes, so it is from that perspective that I can tell you, the new ferries and terminal facilities are excellent. First, the terminal facility at Red Hook... More

The Westin ferry was much more convenient, but more expensive, and going into Cruz Bay downtown, allowed us to see the area, including the roads; recommend a jeep, unless just going to hotel by taxi.

Very easy to buy tickets and hop on the ferry. Nothing special about the place, but it gets a 5 rating because it's efficient.

We are staying at the Westin St John. We picked a rental minivan at the St Thomas Airport and loaded it on the red hook Ferry. You pay a $4 port fee and $35 fee for transporting your car to St John, this the way to go if you want to take a car over. Leaves right on time and... More

Much better than years past. Faster and went through the waves without too much up and down. The kids have gotten sea sick on the ferry in years past but the better boat is nice. The sun deck is fun and good views but wow were the seats hot when we got on. Sitting out there had them rear-end-burning hot... More

Ferry was nice and clean and on time. The handling of the baggage was a bit disorganized, but the crew did a good job considering how much luggage and people they are dealing with each day. Don't forget to tip the guys loading and unloading your baggage.
