Best way to get over to St.Johns, it's $7 PP if you park car at terminal, or take taxi to terminal. You can also take the car ferry over. Once on island you can either walk, taxi, rent car or have guide arrangements.

We took the Virgin Island Ferry from Red Hook to St, John and found it to be very comfortable and on schedule. There is outdoor seating atop the boat in the sun. There is also indoor seating in the air conditioned cabin with comfortable cloth seating, St. Thomas to St. John takes about 30 minutes and the return trip from... More

Having said that they are the only game in town, they are still pleasant and punctual. But, recently a few ferries are out (and perhaps the other ferry line is gone) so less service and can be delayed. Rent a car on St Thomas (remember to hit the "Eco" button on the jeep, for MUCH better fuel efficiency) and take... More

Over the years we're seen the Red Hook ferry as the last hassle before we reach St John and are REALLY on vacation. Fancy new Red Hook depot, but factor in LOTS of time from the airport. Minibuses wait to fill up before taking off and its a long tortuous ride over bad roads through unpretty neighborhoods--count on an hour... More

You have to fly into St. Thomas and take the ferry to St. John. We went in 2011 and 2012 . Used Red Hook Ferry both times . No problems. Check schedule on-line before you go . Takes about 30 minutes from airport. Enjoy !!!

Title says it all. $8 ride, think it was less than that for a round trip, and on time. Clean and air conditioned.

While we were able to get to and from St. John just fine, it seemed like the workers on and around the ferry hate their jobs and the tourists. we must have caught the most crowded ferry of the day (4pm) going from STT to STJ and the man doing the luggage would yell at people "COME GET YOUR BAG.... Fast, smooth and about the price of a taxi to town. The only downside is that they charge $4 for each piece of luggage you won't be carrying in your lap (even airplane carry-on size), as they don't allow luggage inside the passenger cabin or on the top deck.

Taxi ride to ferry from airport was rather long and pricey but no other way to get there!! Ferry was nice but those working the ticket booth could be more pleasant.

Great update to the system (once that initial docking lesson took ) more room than your flight down ...
