We here because the locals recommended it for great snorkeling. You can only access it by jeep. It was okay. Not crowded. The beach was pretty but I was disappointed with the snorkeling. We ended up back at Maho Bay where the snorkeling was great.

This beach is easily accessible and there is ample parking. We saw sea turtles while snorkeling here. The water was calm and clear.

My two favorite beaches in St. John are Francis and Maho. I almost always see pelicans, stingrays and flying fish (being chased by a barracuda). I have also seen mongoose and iguanas. Road to Francis is rough & you may have to park and walk a short distance, but I believe it's worth it!!

We went to Francis Bay for our first snorkeling excursion on St. John. At first, we didn't see much, but then sea turtles and a shark showed up in the grassy area. As we swam toward the rocks on the right (while facing the water), coral, sea fans, reef fish and other sea life appeared. Much of the coral was... More

lovely beach with a pretty good place to snorkel. Picnic tables and grills on the beach and the best part? very few people!

We parked at the little ruin at the top of the hill and walked the .2mi down (smart choice.. if there is a parking spot open there, grab it). This beach does have bathrooms, and it seemed like we were downwind :(. The water is gorgeous and we brought our own float chairs and were happy to lazily float in... More

As others have mentioned, it is remote but well worth it. White sand, blue water need I say more? We spotted a turtle and stingray while snorkeling as well as "Iggy" basking in the afternoon sun.

Francis Bay is perfect. The white sand beach has plenty of trees to provide shade. The main beach has gentle waves and is perfect for younger kids. It also makes it easy to enter for snorkeling. The best snorkeling is to your left as you face the ocean, near the rocks that divide Francis Beach from Maho Point. Lots of... More

Great beach and calm waters. Great for first time snorkeling or experienced! Very peaceful beach! We visited this beach many times in two weeks. Easy access and shaded areas.

This is one of my favorite beaches on St. John! We usually see Sea Turtles and other sea creatures here. It is a nice quiet bay with shade and beautiful scenery. Little rough getting to the beach in the car but well worth it!
