but worth a visit. Great snorkeling but there are no facilities. If you're in Cruz Bay, it's bit of a drive so take a picnic!

This beach is awesome and my favorite. Great sand and easy entry to snorkeling areas. Plenty of marine life including turtles, stingrays and many other reef fish. Barracuda, tarpon and parrot fish are abundant and great to observe. Great beach, don't miss it. Go to the Annaberg ruins, at the split in the road go left and travel to the... More

Well some people that were staying near us suggested Francis, so we went. I have never seen millions of bait fish like this all in one place ever in my life. It was ridiculous. Actually, it scared me. Big fish eat bait fish, so in order to avoid sending the wrong impression I exited the water. We did see tarpon... More

There are better-known North Shore beaches but Francis Bay is hard to beat. Long stretch of white sandy beach, very calm water, very good snorkeling. We arrived at 9 AM and enjoyed having the beach and the water virtually to ourselves for a couple of hours. Other advantages of early arrival: abundant shade, pleasant lighting for photographs, and access to... More

I have been to Francis Bay 6 or 7 times during visits to St John at it has become my favorite beach. Water is so calm....take a raft to float....you will absolutely love it. Every time at Francis I have seen turtles eating in the sea grass. The turtles hang out to the right (when looking out to from the... More

Francis Bay is calm, shallow, and long, but what really makes this a spectacular beach is all the wildlife! For over an hour we watched at least six brown pelicans diving for their lunch. A school of angelfish kept swimming around my kids, eventually chased down by a barracuda in a foot of water! (I was the one who screamed...)... More

OH MY! Can you say zillions of silversides, big schools of tarpon, green turtles, hunting bar jacks, schools of small grunts, etc. Snorkeling is good on both the right and left sides of the beach. Loved it!

I have been to Francis Bay several times and have never been disappointed. Very long, shaded, beautiful beach with calm water and good snorkeling. Saw may HUGE turtles and stingrays. Be careful if you snorkel around the rocks..good fish but sometimes see sand sharks. Beach is large enough that you can have your own space and not feel crowded. Love... More

I have visited about ten beaches in St. John and this is my favorite. It is not very crowded. The water is very calm. The snorkeling is amazing. If you go all the way to the right side of the beach you will see sea turtles and stingray. On the left side there are very large tarpon. There are several... More

Francis is a typical super-attractive northshore beach. Very long beach. Very calm water. Bit harder to get to than some, and feels very isolated (except there will still be 10's of other beachgoers there with you, and other paddleborders cruising by during the day). Lots of spots to sit in the shade of sea grapes and enjoy the beach. In... More
