Francis Bay is perfect. The white sand beach has plenty of trees to provide shade. The main beach has gentle waves and is perfect for younger kids. It also makes it easy to enter for snorkeling. The best snorkeling is to your left as you face the ocean, near the rocks that divide Francis Beach from Maho Point. Lots of... More

Great beach and calm waters. Great for first time snorkeling or experienced! Very peaceful beach! We visited this beach many times in two weeks. Easy access and shaded areas.

This is one of my favorite beaches on St. John! We usually see Sea Turtles and other sea creatures here. It is a nice quiet bay with shade and beautiful scenery. Little rough getting to the beach in the car but well worth it!

Long, winding, and hilly road to Francis Bay Beach, but definitely worth it! My wife and I had the privilege of swimming with a curious and friendly stingray. Soft sand, clear water, and some shaded areas are available. Picnic tables and restroom on sight, but no running water, so bring a cooler with lunch and beverages. Rocky, rutted, dirt road... More

This is in my top 3 snorkeling areas that we visited on St John. There is a pit toilet and some grills and picnic tables. The eastern end has the best snorkeling but if you go too far you will have to go enter on rocks instead of sand. I got a few nasty scrapes here doing that. But other... More

Not crowded, shaded picnic tables, great snorkeling, calm water, gorgeous views of tiny islands, rest room facilities, grills. I swam with a sting ray and a sea turtle (awesome). I can't think of anything that I didn't like except parking was a little bit of a challenge, but not horrible.

A nice white sandy beach that had calmer water than some other beaches. It had a gentle slope into the water. We like to snorkel here and have seen turtles, stingrays, and fish. There are lots of trees close to the beach so you can push back into the shade if you want to. The water is clear. A great... More
