We were so happy that we picked Capt. Phil to perform our sunset wedding sail! His recommendations for the photographer, Eliza Magro, and the florist, Passion Flowers as well as the mango wedding cake from Baked In the Sun Bakery were top notch! It was perfect for our small family wedding! Larissa, was our mate as Tarn was out of... More

Captain Phil and First Mate Tarn were wonderful hosts for this nice trip out on the water. We sailed to another island, snorkeled all around a beautiful, secluded cove, and learned a lot more about the creatures we were seeing from our marine biologist captain. Seeing the beautiful water and lots of critters (including a stingray jumping out of the... More

I can see why Captain Phil gets some mixed reviews. He is a character, and a genuine opinionated guy. But he is a total character, and a really nice guy who knows his snorkling. He knows how to get you up and going and in the water. We bought gear for our latest trip, and he cleaned it, fixed it,... More

Captain Phil of Wayward Sailor came very highly recommended by other guests at our B&B. Our hosts at the B&B suggested that Captain Phil is "a character" and almost a legend on the island. I think some of that talk has gone to the good captain's head. He needs to remember that it is not all about him. Now, I... More

Last weekend I spent another great day on board Wayward Sailor with Captain Phil and Tarn. We had a great snorkel on the back side of Congo. Now, I live in the USVI and crew on boats and book excursions for guests so I see what a lot of day sailors and charter boats are offering, and there is nothing... More

Snorkeled with Capt Phil over the years in beautiful St. John. He has taken us to many great spots and this time was not different! I love to snorkel but would most likely have missed the "Canyons" had he not taken us there and provided us guidance. Couldn't have a better day!

My boyfriend and I booked a full day sail with Captain Phil and wound up being the only two aboard, we had an amazing trip. Captain Phil was very warm and welcoming and clearly loves what he does - we enjoyed chatting with him and got a great advice for where to eat and what to do on the island.... More

My husband and I had the pleasure of sailing with Captain Phil, his wife Allison, and first mate Tarn this past Friday. The trip began at 8 am in Cruz Bay and included a snorkeling stop and lunch at Foxys on Jost Van Dyke, returning to Cruz Bay around 4:30. By chance, we were the only people who had booked... More

My wife and I booked a day sail with captain Phil and Tarn. In a day and age when sailing has become big business: one filled with fancy boats and rookie sailors, I was excited to hear and see that we were set to sail with a man with 46 years on the water. Captain Phil is a throwback for... More

We enjoyed our snorkel/sail with Captain Phil. He is a very nice guy with a lot of stories to tell. If you're looking for a new place or additional snorkeling - this is for you! You can't access this island without a boat.
