This was my first (hopefully not last) trip to St. John. My friend and I wanted to go on a boat trip, for me to learn to snorkel and for her to get some expert advice. I was nervous about the snorkeling but excited for the boat trip. Captain Phil calmed my nerves right away. He's so personable and tells... More

Captain Phil is a character and we enjoyed his stories and commentary. Snorkeling spots were very nice though we had some weather chasing us around part of the day that I believe altered his original plans somewhat. The provided lunch was top notch.

Fantastic day trip snorkeling with Capt Phil and Tarn. He gets in the water with you and teaches technique. He taught me to free dive, and I am so grateful! Great with kids, too!

Been on many snorkel trips in Caribbean and Hawaii and captain Phil takes the cake. Super friendly and personal and was great with our 3.5 yr old son who really just wanted to talk and look around. Captain Phil took us to a great spot with supurb visibility and no other snorkelers. We had the place to ourselves. Saw a... More

Capt Phil and Tarn make a great team. They made sure we were comfortable and took it easy and slow. I enjoyed the stories and history lessons. My wife and I spent a full day sailing to Jost Van Dyke, British Virgin Islands. We did some snorkeling, ate at Foxy's and walked around while Capt Phil and Tarn pointed out... More

A great evening started with a call from Captain Phil to confirm we knew where we were meeting. After a short dinghy ride to his sailboat we left and set sail along the north shore of St John. Captain Phil regaled us with stories of his decades sailing throughout the Caribbean, and his knowledge of local culture, customs and wildlife... More

We traveled from Massachusetts to St Thomas this past November 2012 looking to get out on the water, snorkel and renew our 14 years of marriage. We found Capt/Minister Phil on the internet and read all the wonderful reviews so thought we would take a chance. My brother in law and wife also joined us. We were over an hour... More

Went sailing, snokeling, exploring, and eating with the Wayward Sailor on our last vacation to St. John, US Virgin Islands. The sailboat comfortably accommodates 4 adults plus the staff. We loved Captain Phil's skillful approach to boating and snokeling. We loved his crew, particularly Allison who created a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere for the trip. Also, the food was great (homemade... More

We sailed with Captain Phil in the summer of 2011 and enjoyed the whole experience. He's very knowledgeable about STJ,the VI, and marine ecology. I wasn't concerned that he carefully handled a few marine creatures, and I didn't ask them how they liked it. Then again, I didn't ask the seafood I ate on STJ how they liked, either. Maybe... More

Capt Phil married us 7 month ago and one of our guests gave a sunset sail with him for our next trip. We just went and had an enjoyable evening. Yes, capt Phil likes to chat and share his knowledge but he knows alot about the island. Built his own house on lavango- where only 3 people live on the... More
