We have been on many cruises and I thought this area was one of the nicest. It was very safe and the shops were clean and air-conditioned. I did not feel over-pressured and found they had a lot of different shops beyond the typical jewelry stores. I love Fresh Produce clothing and Billabong. There were some great little restaurants that... More

Different type of stores to go into and look around. Their were street people asking you to come into their store but, not inpolite. You could find little stores in a small corner with so much to go into and look at such fun stuff. There was nothing to dislike on our trip

Our experience was not the best - but no fault of the 'Main Street'. There were seven ships in port the day we visited. Lots and lots of shops - many selling the same things. Did pick up some gifts for family.

Don't get the whole notion of duty free jewelry. It all looked very expensive to me and most shops have people on the curb harassing you to go into their store. I just wanted a T-Shirt.

Off a cruise ship to see the main town for some shopping and see the sights. Well I felt like I was in down town Kuta Bali but this time around it was Jewelery shop after jewelery shop after jewelery shop and the staff hassling you to go and get a free drink or prize by looking at their selection.... Too many shops. Too many hucksters. Too many people. Too few public facilities. Too close to city streets filled with cars whose drivers don't have their minds on their driving.

Nice old Danish architecture but rather monotonous in terms of shop types and the opening hours seem to cater exclusively to the Cruise ship crowds. After about 5pm all the shutters close and not even any bars and restaurants stay open much longer, making nightlife non-existent. You have to go up to Red Hook to find that. Shame, as the... More

Main Street, as known as Dronningens Gade, from Post Office Alley on the east to Strand Gade on the west, is a world class shopping district where one can buy anything from high end jewelry to tee-shirts from duty-free shops that are housed in historic buildings dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries and maintained with their traditional façades.... Be sure to go on a day that there aren't any cruise ships in the ports, it's so much easier! People are somewhat pushy, but you can walk away whenever you want. Lots of jewelry shops and trinket shops. Nice to visit once so that you can say you did it. The deals were ok but nothing to write home... More

Main Street is full of great shopping. There are a few t-shirt shops, but there are also some world class stores that should not be missed. There is an open market at the end of main street that is really great.
