Jewelary shops everywhere on the main shopping street, but very busy because you had 5 ships in today about 12,000 people, there's plenty of taxis around just make sure you get a price.

If you love shopping (especially for jewelry) and being accosted by hawkers, you will love Charlotte Amalie's main street. I have never seen so many joints selling baubles to very expensive Rolex/Cartier/Tiffany watches. There is very little else, as they all cater to the cruise ship hoards (3 mega ships in this day). I personally despise this tourista stuff, but... More

The stone buildings are all Danish. The designs and alley ways have remained the same through out time. There may have been a little change of the insides to accommodate the shops but not much. The French look buildings that are there are French design and were built after the Danish buildings.

I visit St. Thomas at least every two years and every single time I end up here. It is a street where jewelers are King and Liquiours are Queens. The people is very friendly. Sometimes I entertain only seeing the jewels, many of great quality and price. All stores accept credit card, so beware of more debt. If you are... More

Main St is one long set jewelry stores with the hustlers trying to get you into their shop. Go in look around, try on the sparkles, ask their name, ask what time they close, inform them your going to keep shopping & if you don't find a better deal you'll be back. Dynasty Dasslers were very nice to my wife. She... More

The main street is always full of people if you came by cruise ship. There are 2 ports now for cruise ships so its very possible that 4 or more ships can be in port at the same time which equates to large crowds on main street. Princess cruises has its own port about 3 miles away from the original... More

If you make your way to main street expect to see lots of Jewelry stores and duty free liquor stores with some other shops mixed in. The people are friendly and the area makes for a nice walk if you are into shopping.

I was thrilled with the jewelry stores. Actually had my engagement ring reset. We liked the owner of Omni jewelers. Shop around though for prices and rum drinks. This was an enjoyable afternoon. Duty free alcohol could be purchased and delivered to your cruise ship or hotel..Recommend this !!!!!

The four of us enjoyed roaming the Charlotte Amalie downtown area. There are zillions of shops, many restaurants, and wonderful sights. The best buys for alcohol seem to be in the grocery stores. The ocean and island views are terrific. The people are friendly and not pushy (except for the shops). We enjoyed ourselves very much.
