Second time within two years, a pretty unbearable experience. Not for those who simply want to browse the jewelry shop cases and see what appeals to you. You are a prospective piece of meat in most shops. Pounced and harassed seems like a fair description. If you are on a cruise, and want fine jewelry, you will have another chance... More

We have been shopping at Grand Jewelers both in St Thomas, and in St. Maarten, for over 20 years. The entire staff is friendly, and knowledgeable about diamonds, other gems, and all types of jewelry. The atmosphere is inviting, and the merchandise is displayed beautifully. There is never pressure to buy. All of my jewelry, which I cherish, was purchased... More

St. Thomas is said the be the Jewelry Mecca of the Caribbean. Since it's all duty free shopping you really have to know what things are worth and what you are willing to spend. If you go there with specific pieces in mind you can do your homework ahead of time. This will make the odds a little more even... More

If what you want to see is a bunch of jewelry stores and renovated "malls" in what could have been a very nice historic city center, then come here, I truly expected much more than shops in a capital with so much history

If jewelry is not your thing, this place doesn't have much to offer. And the constant soliciting in front of each store gets annoying really quick. I understand they are trying to promote their business and make a sale, and they weren't aggressive about it, but it was still annoying. 75% of the stores were jewelry stores, so if you... More

Most definitely worth the walk between the little alleys and the waterfront which runs parallel. We found some different stores- galleries, local art and gift shopes. You must weed through all the fancy jewelers, however. The best alley is Palm Passage and Hisbiscus for a great Mexican restaurant.

If you like port jewelry shopping you'll love this area. If you don't like either jewelry or shopping, this will be a nightmare for you. At least if you're with someone who wants to shop. The nice thing was the people weren't pushy. No one haggling you to come into their shops. My husband and I couldn't appreciate it. He... More

I really enjoy browsing and shopping on Main Street. You can find bargains because things are often duty free...some things will be about 20% cheaper than in the US. I advise you to have a general idea about what things cost where you live and than you will know if it is worth buying. The liquor is a very good... More
