When visiting St. Thomas last year, my friend and I walked up the hill behind Charlotte Amalie to the synagogue. It is a beautiful little temple with a great history. We first went into the gift shop and I bought a lovely print of the temple. While we were looking around the shop, the rabbi came in and introduced himself... more

Modest but well-kept synagogue is open to all and has a reasonable gift shop next door. The history of the synagogue is clearly explained, and the most distinctive feature is its all sand floor (not tiles, not wood, just sand). Various stories exist for why it's sand. more
