BIOLUMINESCENT BAY TOURS in the only clear kayaks on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands and only one of two operators using clear kayaks in the world.

Visit our bay at Salt River National Park which is currently being studied by the National Park Service and Dr. Michael Latz of Scripps Institute California. Experience the bay that the scientific community was unaware existed until a year ago and now is being called possibly the best of the six or seven year round bioluminescent bays in the world. Our see through boats are the best way to view this definitely better than swimming through it.

The positives: kayaks (aka canoes) are very clean and indeed completely see thru. Company takes safety seriously and lights up all the boats plus warns you that the excursion is physical. Guides are nice & knowledgeable. The negatives: at $120 for 2 people to share 1 boat it's way too expensive for what you get. Yes the bioluminescent bay is... More

The Christmas winds have made the trek across Salt River Bay to the location of the bioluminescence a kayaking challenge. The owner is up front and honest in this fact when signing up. The guides are very helpful in getting there. Once there, you see the dinoflagellates and occasional jellyfish. We had a clear night so we also saw millions... More

The dinoflagellates look like stars in the kayak, and we caught a comb jellyfish! We saw 20+ jellies. Do a quick search on bioluminescent bays before going to appreciate it more. And wear long pants that can be pulled up. The mosquitos are hungry near the dock! Bring a camera. Thanks for a great memory!

A thumbs up for a fab evening adventure. A most professionally run organisation and felt safe and secure even though we experienced some storm conditions. Plankton and comb jellies abounded in most parts of the lake. Then to make sure we all saw a comb jellies the guide passed around a specimen - a wonder of nature. Greg was passionate... More

Went with my husband on this tour. We had a great time with Michelle and Bill as our tour guides. Saw a ton of bioluminescent dinoflagellates, and Michelle made sure we saw the jellyfish. They were amazing. And on the way back, you could view the bioluminescence through the bottom of the kayak. In addition, Craig puts your safety as... More

We've been to St. Croix for the last 3 years but hadn't kayak'd the bioluminescent bay. Several people on the island told us it was a magical experience and they had taken the trip multiple times. We had high expectations. The see through kayak trip is more expensive than the others but with the "glowing" reviews we thought it would... More

First of all I would like to say this phenomenon is controlled by Mother Nature and God, not us! Next, I find it highly insulting that you would insinuate that I'm all about "taking the cash." If that is truly the case, then why were we voted in 2015 by the local readers of the Daily News the best kayak... More

Unbelievable night, simply magical! I went with Sea Thru Kayaks, they came highly recommended by the locals, and saw the water light up through my kayak just like something from a movie. The water was literally alive with millions of sparkling organisms that light up when you move through them. Then, as if that wasn't enough, I saw jellyfish that... More

We planned our trip perfectly so that we could experience the bioluminescence on a very dark knight. I found the bioluminescence to be very dull, and in order to really see any type of bioluminescence you have to kayak close to the mangroves. The bioluminescence is a white color and that is all. No other interesting colors. The two or... More

sorry that you did not enjoy the bioluminescence but we do not have any control over mother nature. We operate only on the nights with good lunar conditions which we plot using lunar and sun charts, our competitors do not follow the same honest and strict guidelines. as far as my negativity as i remember you inquired about the three... What a great adventure with Sea Thru Kayaks! They're the only company to have kayaks with clear bottoms, which makes the experience even more unique and amazing. They also seem to be the most concerned about the safety of their guests and the preservation of the bio bay. We paid $60/person; be sure to bring cash. Each kayak holds two... More

Make sure you choose THE SEA THRU KAYAK VI Bioluminescent tour if you want the full view experience for your kayak tour and you will not regret it. This has to be the best nighttime experience on the Island of St. Croix. It does take some skill and teamwork to paddle out to the bioluminescent lagoon, however the reward is... More
