The vessel traded for years between Hispaniola and the Turks & Caicos Islands carrying such commodities as rum , beer, produce, plants and building materials. The ship has been refit as a charter vessel and now stays close to home in the sheltered waters of Grace Bay and the Caicos Cays of Turks and Caicos Islands. The S/V ATABEYRA is the perfect platform for learning hands on operation of traditional sailing craft, for exploring the exquisite undersea world and many islands that surround us or just lounging on her spacious, shaded decks. No vessel in the TCI charter fleet is as large or as versatile.Sun Charters and the ATABEYRA crew offer our guests a unique opportunity to get real sailing experience aboard the last of the tropical trading schooners. Being a gaff-rigged vessel carrying two headsails, there are lots of lines to pull, many sails to tend, and the skipper will even be happy to let you take the helm. Feel the past come alive as we sail through the uninhabited chain of Caicos Cays the same way it was done hundreds of years ago. The Cays were once the lair of the infamous lady pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Reid, and the waters and surrounding islands remain basically untouched since that time. The Crew of the Good Ship Atabeyra are proud that she is overwhelmingly the boat the residents choose when recreating in the Caicos Cays. « less

A perfect evening, very enjoyable. The sunset cruise set out at 6pm in what seemed to be rough weather, but the exceptional crew made it very easy. We went along Grace Bay, nice scenery, couple of dolphins came alongside. Great hosts graciously offered rum punch, and came by many times to offer drinks and snacks. This was the 2nd sunset... More

Sun Charters and Capt. David are the absolute best!! This is the 2nd time I have used them. :ast year, it was our family on a sunset cruise. there were 10 of us and ONLY us. It was great!! This year it was a 1/2 day trip snorkeling cruising around with lunch included. Again, our group ONLY. It was amazing,... More

We did the half day snorkel and loved it. We went snorkeling, drank "happy juice", hung out on the prettiest beach we'd ever seen, then sailed back to the marina. I would highly recommend and will do again next time.

Perfect day...perfect weather! Capt. Tibi and Junior made sure our snorkel, island beach jaunt, sand dollar hunt, and cruise were exceptional! The one of a kind ship, built by its owner, is clean. Junior kept the rum punch---really good stuff---flowing plentifully all day. Powdery white limestone sand, crystal clear water, and reefs full of fish made this day one of... More

The trip was very nice. We did it a couple of hours after getting off the plane in Provo. The price is very reasonable compared to other glow wrom cruises. We kept getting offered compliementary rum punch. The rum punch was not very strong, but hey it was free. They also had water for the kids on the boat. Watching... More

Just got back from a wonderful trip in Turks and Caicos. One of the highlights was our day trip on board the Atabeyra! We were a group of 6 couples traveling and had the boat to ourselves. The boat was beautiful. Snorkeling was fantastic off the reefs. Got to see beautiful coral and tons of colorful fish. The equipment was... More

This was the second year in a row we chartered the Atabeyra for the day. Eleven of us, ranging in age from 4 to 72, enjoyed sun, the beautiful sea, snorkeling, and sailing on the Atabeyra. Captain Tibby and Junior were awesome with our children, and we relaxed as we cruised. We snorkeled an amazing reef, jumped off the boat,... More

I have been on the Atabeyra a number of times and it is always wonderful. Whether you are there to relax and enjoy the scenery, go snorkeling or party with friends you are guaranteed to have a good time. The guys working on the boat make it look effortless and their hard work is much appreciated!

We got married on the beach in T&C then had the reception on the Yacht with Sun Charters. The whole experience was breathtaking and mind blowing. We had our cake provided on the cruise, nibbles and cocktails. The sound system on the yacht was really good, the service provided to us by the crew and captain was really nice. The... More

We did the Friday sunset sail and it was wonderful. My friend has mobility issues and it was no problem for her to get on and off the boat. Very comfortable. Best rum punch I've had in a long time - not syrupy sweet - and Junior kept it flowing along with lots of laughs and interesting information about the... More
