If you want to see the heart of POS then visit but other than walking up the square it is a typical busy city centre...lots of traffic, people about and noise. You go once, you have been. Interesting fact we were told was that the KFC there is the one that makes the most in the world for KFC. Interesting.

I love Independence Square because of it's history and because it is at the heart of everything in Port of Spain. No matter if it's Carnival or liming on an evening. It doesn't matter because it is always busy. From the Waterfront to the Catholic Church it is all reclaimed land, which is why when heavy rains fall Independence Square... More

Independence Square is a place most travel through on a daily basis, the streets are dirty and littered with street merchants which ironically is an illegal act, yet the police pass by and even patronized these person. Much more should be done to actually make this area a tourist attraction.

De square is a like the center of Port of Spain. You must end up there. Around that square you can see different buildings and stalls. Example KFC, Church's Chicken, DVD Store, Bank etc. It is a extremely busy place with real transport etc.
