Reminds me of being in an American city, with all honking cars, fast food resataurants, and heaving with people. Advice keep clear

If you decide to go in to Port of Spain for a shopping experience then definitely walk through Independence Square. On one side are financial buildings and on the other are the small shops and stores. We went up Federick Street. Up one side and down the other. We had lunch at a food court in the upper level of... You could visit a really nice cathedral (Trinity). Lot of people wondering around, you could buy fruits, there are a lot of vendors. It is a place like any downtown in my country: people people people

This is located in the center of the business district. and provides a natural green space for the populous to just stop and sit. The square is an oasis in the business center of Port of Spain.

It's really a walkway but broken up by traffic crossings. There's not too much of interest to look at on the way. Felt safe enough walking around here alone on a Monday morning with my daypack (having taken the bus into town while on a long transit at Piarco).

It is true, this is the place where you will see a lot of the real Trinidad. It may be, however, a place that only Trinidadians can appreciate. There are sights and smells and flavours that are connected to your childhood and your memories and then you see something different. For a tourist it is mostly dirty and dangerous. The... More

I wandered throug here on a Sunday afternoon and was later scolded by my Trinidad hosts for taking such a large risk. It was cluttered with homeless and some unfriendly locals. If you want to stand on the sidewalk and look at a KFC there are nicer places. There were some street merchants along a neighbouring street, but that was... More

If you want to see the heart of POS then visit but other than walking up the square it is a typical busy city centre...lots of traffic, people about and noise. You go once, you have been. Interesting fact we were told was that the KFC there is the one that makes the most in the world for KFC. Interesting.

Only Trinidadians will appreciate this place.... as a visitor arriving by plane do no go out of you way, however if you arrive by boat then its right there across from the port. It is transit area filled with people heading to the various transit points (bus & taxis). walking its length gives you an idea of what our downtown... More
