An educational trip for underprivileged children

A very interesting and educational tour. Was very fascinated by the birds and the growth of the unfamiliar trees.

I have been going to the Asa Wright Nature Centre since 1998. I just spent two nights and three days there exploring the trails and photographing birds. If you like birds and photography, this is one of the best places in the world to stay. One thing I have learned though is that most people that go there are on... More

The road to get there is a narrow, winding one, way up in the mountain, and its pretty lonely, signs aren't the best but you will find your way. A car can make the journey, but a suv may be better. Although its great quiet time for a couple, I'd recommend to go with a group if you can, as... More

The drive up was very long, however, it was definitely worth it. Parking facilities were great. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The tour guides were well informed about the flora and birds, but it very much about he other wildlife. Overall a good trip and destination.

Wonderful historical plantation--even the ride to the top of the mountain is beautiful and full of history. From the balcony of the center you can see many different species of hummingbird--we also saw an Agouti and leaf cutter ants. On the short walk you are almost guaranteed to see beaded bell birds, honeycreepers, bananaquits, white-bearded manakins, golden-headed manakins and more.... More

I really enjoyed my short visit to the Asa Wright center. Unfortunately I did not allot enough time here. i did stay for lunch and really enjoyed that. Next time I will try to stay overnight.

Newton George, the Speyside, Tobago, based bird and wild life guide and expert arranged for us to fly down to Trinidad to visit the Asa Wright Nature Centre, a conservation and research centre established in 1967 - one of the first nature centres to be established in the Caribbean. Located in a former plantation, one is surrounded by hills and... More

The drive is killer - windy roads through the mountainous area. But when you get there? Excellent. Chill out on the porch having lunch/tea and watch hummingbirds come to you. View through the telescope-type thing to see birds far off in the hills. Take a tour and learn all about the leafcutter ants and other local wildlife, while also having... More

We stayed at the Awa Wright Nature Centre for 3 nights with a group of 20 people. We were assigned cabin 8 and when we arrived at 1 a.m. and it was nice to see that there were sandwiches and cold water provided as a snack in our room. It is pretty basic accommodations, two single beds, desk/table, toilet and... More

A birder's paradise - THE place to visit if you are a bird lover and don't want to hike mountains, sit for hours and wait - while there is fun in that, there is also great excitement is seeing a large variety of species in close proximity.
