I always go up here with family to have lunch and jus enjoy the views ...only once as a teenager i took the tour which was very boring because the tour guide kept telling us about ants and bamboo seeds being swallowed as a method of torture in war (those things didnt interest me at the time) ... Food is... More

Despite the drive (prepare yourself for the unbelievably bad roads), this place is absolutely stunning! Our guide, Jesse, was great at pointing out the not-so-obvious flora and fauna. They claim to have the highest density of different birds anywhere in the world, and I believe it.

First of all, a lovely drive through the foothills of our Northern Range to arrive at the Asa Wright Nature Centre, then a guided walk through anyone of the many natural trails where the great diversity of our Trinidad birdlife becomes apparent. It is a must see for anyone interested in avian natural habitat. The hummingbirds alone are enough to... More

A very interesting and educational tour. Was very fascinated by the birds and the growth of the unfamiliar trees.

I have been going to the Asa Wright Nature Centre since 1998. I just spent two nights and three days there exploring the trails and photographing birds. If you like birds and photography, this is one of the best places in the world to stay. One thing I have learned though is that most people that go there are on... More

The road to get there is a narrow, winding one, way up in the mountain, and its pretty lonely, signs aren't the best but you will find your way. A car can make the journey, but a suv may be better. Although its great quiet time for a couple, I'd recommend to go with a group if you can, as... More

The drive up was very long, however, it was definitely worth it. Parking facilities were great. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The tour guides were well informed about the flora and birds, but it very much about he other wildlife. Overall a good trip and destination.

Wonderful historical plantation--even the ride to the top of the mountain is beautiful and full of history. From the balcony of the center you can see many different species of hummingbird--we also saw an Agouti and leaf cutter ants. On the short walk you are almost guaranteed to see beaded bell birds, honeycreepers, bananaquits, white-bearded manakins, golden-headed manakins and more.... More

Newton George, the Speyside, Tobago, based bird and wild life guide and expert arranged for us to fly down to Trinidad to visit the Asa Wright Nature Centre, a conservation and research centre established in 1967 - one of the first nature centres to be established in the Caribbean. Located in a former plantation, one is surrounded by hills and... More
