Nice beach walks but box jellyfish and environmental pollution

Part of the joy of spending time at Mayaro is the trip from Port of Spain--through villages, along the ocean, through the forests. The area has a wonderful market--especially on the weekend--along with remarkably beautiful beaches for waling, gazing and swimming.

I visited the beach just before carnival. We were able to wade the waters only due to box-jellyfish warnings and actually we saw a lot of dried/dead Portugese Man-Of-War just lying in the sand. Because we could not bade I cannot say anything about strong currents this time. Nevertheless, this was actually the first time that I had this experience... More

Mayaro beach is a crowd favorite on the island. Depending where you live it can take hours to reach there as in the case with us. If you have to make the trek then its best to overnight in the numerous places in that area (beach houses and resorts). The quality of water is good but there are strong currents... More

My husband, my daughter and I stayed at Moondrop Resort. I must say it was great. On arrival there was only the security at the front who were expecting us. He showed us our room which was a studio apt. It had a fully equipped clean kitchen, 1 4x6 bed and a smaller bed which was neatly made up, a... More

In order 2 rent the beach house at a cost of $1500.00TT per night deposit must be made into an ac in the names of R. Khan and F. Khan (the whole names are on the ac). All negotiations are done through the care taker Gina. The house had no water on arrival, the bathrooms were mossy mosquitoes that can... More

This resort is absolutely the worst. Overpriced and the Place looked more like a prison camp and the beach was horrible. No view. Garbage everywhere. The rooms looked broken down. The sink leaked, the the showers drains flooded. This place should be called the LAST RESORT. I think the owner has absolutely NO experience in running a resort. The staff... More

The people reviewing and talking about bad conditions of rooms and whatnot seem to be mistaken about something. Whatever resort they decided to visit is in fact a resort ON Mayaro bay and not actually Mayaro bay. Posting those reviews under the beach tab gives a false impression. At least state which resort you went to in the review!

We went to the eastern coast along the Atlantic to see the 21 miles of coconut lined beaches of Manzanilla and Mayaro. Some natives were collecting chip-chips at the edge of the bay. Beautiful! We took the road into the Narvia swampland. Saw some interesting homes, plants, and water buffalo. Atlantic was too rough for swimming, but the bay was... More
