In 2012 a fellow philatelist spotted this store while on a cruise and mentioned it to me. I have a time-share near East End and only rarely go to George Town. That winter I made it a point to investigate and was blown away; a stamp store on an island of only 50,000! We don't even have one in Toledo!... More

I know nothing about stamps and stamp collecting, let me say that first. Our visit to The Penny Black left me appreciating the history and art of stamps themselves. The clerk was friendly, articulate, and totally willing to take her time and tell us all sorts of interesting things about stamps. It truly is wall-to-wall with amazing stamps, and if... More

I arrived on a holiday when the post office was closed. I wanted to mail a post card from Hell in Grand Cayman. Someone referred me to this stamp collectors store. The gentleman in the store was so sweet and generous. Not only did he sell us stamps, he sold us cayman money that we were unable to get from... More

I simply could not believe my eyes when I spotted a stamp shop, any stamp shop, on a Caribbean island. Going inside however is completely unbelievable ! It is literally wall to wall stamps with more in the back and everywhere you look. The selection - worldwide - is unbelievable and the owner/operator is pleasant and knowledgeable. I couldn't leave... More

We stumbled upon The Penny Black while we were in Georgetown one afternoon, and what we thought would be a quick in-and-out experience, actually lasted for about half an hour. The amiable woman who runs the store, Elaine, was so charming, soft-spoken, and friendly, that this was truly a memorable experience for us during our stay in Grand Cayman. It... More

Although I am not a stamp collector, I visited the shop in late January 2013, and had a fantastic time looking at all sorts of stamps, particularly Caribbean stamps (including from the Cayman Islands), which I have never seen before. The proprietor was very easy-going and helpful and just a genuinely pleasant person to interact with. Whether you are visiting... More

We have visited The Penny Black stamp shop in Georgetown, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands on each of our approximate ten visits to this island. It is great fun to search though the large collection of stamps for finds. And we always leave with some interesting finds. The last time on 9 January 2013 we bought about eight sets of stamps/cards/first... More

This really is a wonderful little store in George Town. Even if you are not a stamp collector, Penny Black has unusual and interesting stamp issues from all over the world as well as first day covers. I focus on Cayman Islands stamps and am missing only 30-40 items to complete the collection, and Penny Black had several hard-to-find issues... More

What a wonderful little place! I have actually been several times, and it's often the first port of call on my trips. It's a great place to get souvenirs for the whole family, and the proprietor is a very friendly and helpful person. Two thumbs up :)
