We have just visited the Island as part of a Thomson cruise and it was a fantastic Island. When we got off the cruise ship, there are plenty of tours you can join at a very reasonable rate of 15/20 us dollars. this takes you around the Island up to the highest point so you can really get at the... Amazing view and adventure, but not for everyone. The beaches are pristine and beautiful but the major draw back is how long it takes to go from one side of the bath to the other. People that have back/knee/ankle problems beware, there are a lot of uneven stairs and slippery rocks. There are lockers on one side of the baths.... More

Too crowded with cruise passengers and the bar not very good. Supposed "rum punch" served in small plastic cup was nothing like the real thing.

Arrived on the P&O Ship Arcadia, on what was reported to be the 'hottest day' of the years so far (Nov 2014). What a great place to visit. Went ashore by tender and arrived at the site of the new Cruise Terminal just being built. Once ashore, it's a short walk into town, although we were picked up by our... More

Our cruise ship was only in Tortola for five hours and it is also a tender port so we booked the Sea & See excursion through the ship for $84 @ to avoid getting left behind. The open air bus picked us up at the dock and headed into the mountains. Way up in the mountains. Tip: Be on the... More

Visited here on an excursion from our cruise ship. First sight was a little disappointing. Just looked like a main road going through the Island. We thought this was the main street but after askingone of the locals we were directed through a little alleyway which brought us on to the aactual shopping area. There's not an awful lot of... Flying into Beef Island Tortola is a freaky experience! Let me say this...don't look out the window! The bus ride to the marina was OMG! SCARY. The bus driver was wonderful. He lived there and new the island and it's culture and the history. It's dirty and old. But it's very very cultural. Another bucket list do. Sail out from... More

We came with the Princess cruise ship and made port at Road Town. We disembarked and waited for the Princess road trip around Tortola, BVI. We left on the tour around the island and found some very bad roads. There was about three sets of large switchbacks we needed to cross. Sometimes the large truck had to back up in... More

We took a small bus tour of the island after our scuba diving trip turned into a disaster. We began the tour at the cruise port. We learned a lot about the island. We got to visit a sugar cane museum, rum distillery, and a gorgeous beach that had tiny fish that would swim next to you!

The beautiful 4 acre botanic gardens are in the centre of Road Town and are worth a visit even if you have seen others on the BVI or Caribbean islands. Walk along narrow Main Street which runs through the centre of town and retains loads of West Indian charm with colourful traditional wooden and stone buildings. Look for the 19th... More
