I have been staying in Westin Hotel Dawn Beach for a Week in December 2014. There was a significant unpleasent smell of seaweed. One of the restaurant waitress told us, the problem with the seaweed it's been going on for a couple of months. You could not enjoy your morning cup of coffee on the ocean front balcony. The smell... This place is great, so long as the surf isn't to strong. First few days were great! The water was calm enough for small children to play and swim safely. Once the waves picked up offshore a few days later, it was a little more challenging because of the random coral here and there in the water. On those days... More

I hung here for about an hour swimming. The waves were a little strong so I got a good work out. I did try some snorkeling but there is much to look at. In order to get here I had to be let in the gate to a hotel, they let me park in their parking lot but they tell... More

Out of the way for us coming from Grand Case. Full of seaweed and mostly taken over by hotel guests. Parking is confusing/limited. Would not return.

November 2014 was not a good time to go to this beach. No matter how hard they tried to clear the seaweed, it was back again immediately. From what we saw out in a catamaram later that week, it was on the entire eastside of St. Marting, including Orient Bay. The beach looks nice, with lots of restaurants. Too bad,... More

We were at Dawn Beach in November of 2014 about 10 days after a tropical storm hit the area. Not sure if it was just bad timing due to the storm or the fact that it was the rainy season in general but Dawn Beach was pretty violent and the folks at the resort sad the storm had washed away... More

Would have been great without all that seaweed... I've been visiting St Maarten for 10+ years but never stayed on Dawn Beach and always heard only good things about it. But in Nov 2014 it's basically unusable. The tractor and the beach attendants couldn't cope with the seaweed left on the beach. More and more came in waves, every 0.5-1... More

Stopped at St. Maarten-St. Martin on the cruise and wanted to see a local favorite, Dawn Beach. The taxi dropped us at the Westin to make our way down to the beach, which we didn't realize that was the only way to get to it. The Westin staff wasn't very friendly and kicked us off the loungers even though the... More

You can enjoy lunch at Mr. Busby's and relax and enjoy the beach and beach views. Nice place to relax and do nothing and have fun doing it.
