We spent a Friday afternoon at Friar's Bay beach and found it less crowded than we expected. Chair/umbrella at the beach club were a decent price (12 euros I think), and drink service was fast enough. The beach itself was clean and calm. Yes there is a small section of rocks as you enter the water, but bring some water... More

This was a fun - off the beaten path - beach. We had a beer and sat on the beach. The owner of the restaurant here was very friendly and helpful. We hiked to "Happy Beach" which is a clothing optional beach. Tons of fun and such a beautiful beach

Spent the day at Friar's Bay and small white sand beach on the French side of St.Martin. Neat beach restaurant here, with things from pate to burgers, cold beer to good french wine.Nice sandy bottom to swim, very calm and great for kids.Sitting on the beach you have a great view of neighboring Anguilla.Up the beach on the further hill... I visited Friar's Bay as an after thought after spending the early part of the day at Grand Case beach. I didn't expect much since it wasn't one of the more popular beaches I read about, but this was one of my favorite beaches out of at least 10 that I visited. Very calm and clear water, enough food/amenities without... More

Beautiful calm beach in a quaint seaside hamlet. Cows and goats wander buy. Calm clear water, beautiful sand, two beach bistros. Nothing to buy just food drink chair/umbrella rentals. I want to move here. Best beach on the island.

We always loved Friar's Bay because it is so calm and fairly quiet but this year it is very rocky. You can't even enter the water without shoes on. Went to Mullet and LeGalion instead.

If you want quiet beach that you can relax in water drink a beer and not get pounded by waves this is the beach for you. There are couples and families here. Not crowded either. Watch out if you drive in from south it's very rocky.

Friars was close to where we were staying. Not too touristy although you can get a beach chair and something to eat if you want it (take cash though as they don't take credit cards). Most days it was pretty calm there and even on the roughest of days was still very easy to swim there. You definitely need a... More

We've been to St. Maarten and both times went to Orient Beach. A large beach and overly growded. This time we wanted to try a different beach which wasn't so grand. So we tired Friar's Bay Beach. We were not disappointed. This beach was awesome. The beach had fine grain sand, the water warm and plenty of lounge chairs. A... More

Beers were pricey, so we learned our lesson and started bringing our own. This beach is small and a bit rocky but very quiet and relaxing. Saw cows on our way in as it's pretty far off the main road and through a residential area.
