Friars beach

Lovely beach, smell is present but not enough to dissuade you from staying, sand is soft and white, water was cool and refreshing. Well worth the drive.

We had read great reviews of Friars Bay and decided to make the drive from Simpson Bay. When we arrived we walked from the public parking to FBBC and almost stopped and left half way there due to the raw sewage type smell coming from the pond behind the bay. Thankfully we kept walking and the smell subsided past the... More

It took us a while to find (at the bottom of the hill) but was a nice beach overall. It has a few restaurants and I have heard a lot of local like to come here and hang out. Worth checking out and had a good spot to watch the sunset.

Not sure why it stinks so bad:candidates are nearby cow pastures, pig enclosures, nasty swamp, or large garbage dumpsters. A good beach if you are passing through on your way to the far superior happy bay beach.

Went to this beach for the first time and ended up leaving within 5 minutes. After walking down beach to sit you get a terrible smell of stench. Small beach area but looks as if it is geared to families with young kids.

This was probably one of the most laid back beaches that we visited. The water was very gentle but the ground was a little rocky under the water. This was one of the few beaches where we found shells to collect. They only charged $10 for chairs and an umbrella for the day but there were not many people there... More

We spent a couple hours at the French beach. Chair rental is $14.00 and they have a little beach restaurant. My kids loved the conch fritters and fries. Drink prices were good. The water was beautiful and the people were hald dressed.

We booked this excursion on the Oasis of the Seas cruise line. It took 35 minutes to get to St. Thomas and then a 10+ minute shuttle bus ride to get to Trunk Bay. After 15 minutes of instruction, you get about 30 minutes to snorkel and then have to get ready to get back on the shuttle bus to... More

I'm one that wanders off the beaten path a bit, I'm not a huge fan of crowds (i.e. Orient Bay), so I found Friars Bay to be a great beach to hang out on. Clean, white sand, calm waters. I didn't have any issues with rocks in the water. On the weekends it is a very popular local hangout, so... More
