This was our first beach in St Martin. They have 2 bars on the beach and both offer chairs and umbrellas. The beach is beautiful with clear waters, great for relaxing. The beach was not crowded that day, so we didn't have any issues finding a nice and quiet spot to relax.

This beach on the French side of St. Maarten is close to Grand Case which is a restaurant hub. A very pretty beach (in my opinion the best in St. Maarten) with gentle waves (it faces west and the Caribbean). The water is clean, refreshing and inviting. It is bordered with palms. There are two restaurants on the beach with... More

We just happened on Friars Bay, and it is really pretty. The beach isn't the beautiful white sand like some other beaches, but it's pretty and has pretty clear water and beautiful pebbles washing up on shore. The fact that we were there for sunset was just an added bonus! It was spectacular! There are a few little restaurants there,... More

We were touring the island and stopped at this beach. The water is pretty calm and it is nice and quiet. The road going to this beach is pretty rough so go slow when driving up to it.

Friar's Bay Beach is nice, but Happy Bay, just a 15 minute walk away, is prettier, quieter, and has more shade.

We were cruising around the island simply exploring the beautiful landscapes and views. When we spotted this beach we have decided to stay there. It was really quite, peaceful and amazingly beautiful. You can rent chairs and umbrella's. Also there is cafe where you can order refreshments or food. Prices are, let's say European. I would pay similar amount for... More

Lovely quiet beach a little off the beaten track. Great for kids with gentle surf and easy access to the water. Two beach restaurants on site. Didn't eat at either but both looked good, especially the Friar's Bay Beach club at the furthest end, that had wooden walkways and picnic tables on platforms under the trees. Very pretty!

The last 600 ft. of the road is very bad but let this not put you off to visit one of the best beaches in the north. Good for kids, adults, cocktails and lunches. It is French side so clothing optional. We agree with the other positive comments about Friar's Bay, and visit it regularly when we're in St. Martin... More

We found Friar's Bay towards the end of our trip. We have a 2 1/2 year old and a 14 year old. We found most of the beaches were too rough for the 2 1/2 year old, but Friar's was perfect!! Food and drink was good too!!

I wouldn't take my dog to this beach other then if he needed to go to the bathroom! The people at the friars bay rest have to be the rudest people I have every meet. We asked to use the bathroom and the guy tells us to use the ocean when we found out they did have a bathroom and... More
