The surf is usually rough here and the food is OK but not my favorite. They seem like they want to herd you to one of the two bars depending on where you park which is limited. Thou in our group 2 couples just love this beach it isn't my favorite.

It is so peaceful and beautiful. We love eating at Gus' and drinking frozen drinks at happy hour. Super snorkeling.

Pretty beach- however the facilities and food are not up to par with other beaches on the island (Orient Bay, Anse Marcel). Also, not a great beach for walking because it is very rocky. However the snorkeling is awesome and there is a cave!

We hit different beaches on different parts of the island everyday during our trip to St. Maarten; Mullet Bay, Orient Bay, Dawn Beach, but my favorite was Baie Rouge. Nestled between gated communities was this gem, mostly French locals, pristine, and off the beaten tourist path the day we went. The parking at Mullet Bay was overflowing as we passed,... More

Upon parking I was a little nervous as there was an argument/scuffle brewing among two locals who worked at the beach bar & grill. A young man immediately told us where to park and then offered beach chairs/umbrellas to rent ($15 for the two of us). We opted out & just sat our towels & bag on the sand. We... More

We went to Baie Rouge to watch the sunset and found a beautiful beach with large pieces of exposed granite. There was a decent sized parking areas with steps down to the beach. We came out next to two beach bars whose signs touted food and drinks, but they were already closed by 5:30 when we arrived. The area was... More

As far as beaches, bays and sandbars go..I push Baie Rouge to the top. I spent my last day here. Now I wish I had brought all my 9 friends here. With little bays to swim to, the water as clear as Tintamarre...like your best crystal glassware! The bay lets the water get warmer and the swimming is eternal. I... More

We enjoyed Baie Rouge greatly. The rocky point on the rocky point on the northern-most side was great for snorkeling. We especially enjoyed finding the grotto on the other side. It wasn't overly crowded which was nice.

The medical students who attend the American University of the Caribbean Medical School say that this hidden little beach, situated on the very western coast of the French side of the island is a great find. Quiet, private, and uncrowded. We can attest to this! Relax, and practice your French sunbathing!

The most awesome beach on the island. Although Orient beach is awesome, if you want a day to yourself on a secluded pristine beach this is the place for you. It is about a 15. Minute drive from Phillipsburg. Don't let the entrance and parking lot fool you. I was sketchy at first, but when I got to the beach... More
