Barter with the vendors. They are likely to come down in price over 20%. Hats from 25 will go down to 15 us dollars, etc. Many vendors have similar items, so look before you purchase.

We always stop by the Open Market at least once during our annual stay. There are a variety of items in the market which are unique but I do know that they do not all come on every Market Day. There is a wonderful booth with garnets but I have missed her several times- hope to catch her today when... More

Marigot's open air market is a lot of fun for my family and I. We like to walk around and browse the items, and it's even possible to bargain for items (won't work for everything though). Like others have said there is a lot of the same things, but there is other vendors that have unique items. Definitely worth stopping... More

It is true, as other reviewers have suggested, that there is a lot of mass market, cheap stuff here - but if you will be patient and look through each aisle, there are numerous local crafts-people selling handmade jewelry, artwork and the like - I have some beautiful earrings - a very cool hair accessory (never seen anything remotely like... Didn't buy anything when I heard some of the vendors complaining about Americans...get a clue people. Every market stall had the exact same thing literally & the prices were high. When I commented that I bought the same necklace in Grand Turk for half the price they were asking the woman told me "well this is St Martin."

Lots of tables with basically the same things. Good cheap ($5-10) tee-shirts and hats, etc. A good way to blow a couple hours strolling and haggling. Be aware a lot of shops close from 1-3 pm for siesta. And on a slow day tables just close up early. The kind of thing da wife loves to do.

Small market with about 30 stalls selling t shirts, trinkets, spices, jewelery, bags, artwork. Good to find gifts. Took us about 60 mins to go thru it, market is open on wed and sat, we went at 8:00am, not busy at all. We then went over to our favorite bakery, Sarafina's for coffee and chocolate crossiants.

The Marigot Market had a variety of booths that were not evident in the shopping in Phillipsburg. One table sold unusual Italian watches, handmade jewelry, matted local photos in glass, and other various items. These were in addition to the typical clothing, trinkets, beach bags, etc. One block away is a great French bakery, Serafina's, you won't want to miss.... More

On June 9th, my wife and I took a trip to St. Maartin Island as part of our Southern Caribbean cruise. We decided to opt for the cruise sponsored excursion this time. The cost was $25 per person for a 2 hour tour. Our shipped docked at Phillipsburg, St. Maartin which is the capital of the Dutch St. Maartin. St.... More

We got here pretty early so most places were not open yet. We had coffee and waited around for about an hour. Then we went in some shops and had lunch. I would not like to spend the entire day here but it was a nice little visit
