It feels a bit like the Las Vegas Strip: while little more than a block long, it's dense with multistory buildings housing exclusive jewellers, boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and a huge resort and casino. Maho Bay has a nice enough beach except that it's at the very end of the airport runway. The area is even marked with a sign warning beach goers that 'low flying and departing aircraft blast can cause physical injury!' « less

Maho Bay, where the combination of beautiful blue water and jet fuel laced blasts of air create a unique euphoria! Ha, it's first class people watching as you wonder, watch and get very curious as to why people love getting blasted, knocked over, and film the powerful engine blasts of 747 Airlines. You can stand less than 100 yards from... More

Small beach but very exciting with the jet blasts from the airplanes taking off. Not a good beach for small children.

Lots shops and restaurants. Nice beach but very commercialized. Fun place to visit if you're looking for something to do away from the beach.

Beautiful beach for planespotting, or just hanging out. Watching the planes fly over your head is an experience that cannot be matched anywhere!

This is a family friendly Beach. Great snorkeling when waves are high which doesn't happen often. Some local barbeque cooking while you rest on the lounge chairs (at a cost), bathrooms are a $1.00 per visit.

This was a wonderful discovery on the island of St. Maarten. The beach is so relaxing, refreshing and fish were everywhere. The water aerobics was fun as I watched my family enjoy themselves. Watching the planes land and then take off, look just like the advertisements. What a wonderful vaction spot.

Us, along with our good friends, spent a good portion of the day on March 7 at Maho Bay. Was so entertaining to watch one plane after another come in. Watching the huge KLM flight from Holland arrive was really awesome. We feel if you spend any time on St. Maarten, you have got to visit Maho at least for... More

WE went to Maho because one of our group is an airplane fanatic. It wouldn't have been my first choice but I have to admit we had fun while there. We took a taxi from the cruise ship pier for about $12. Thousands of people were at the beach when we arrived. There are a couple of bars that you... More

It's a little unnerving to have planes coming in over your head. The beach is very small and the traffic congested. I did a circle tour of the island (only $25 each with a van load of 8 people) which started near the cruise port and I was glad the driver was figuring where to park. Worth seeing, but do... More
