personally i agree with everyone has to say about the fort.. but the goverment don't see the little details like we see... what's it really going to kill to jus have a board with information about the fort. they(the goverment) only look for ways to make their pockets get full while we on the other hand are struggling... fort amsterdam... more

I totally agree with other reviewers when they say that St. Maarten (Dutch side) does not care about their historic past. I had exactly the same feeling when I visited Fort Amsterdam. By coincidence I visited Fort Lois on the French side the day before and I could not believe the difference. Fort Amsterdam is not inviting to visit: No... more

Its pretty obvious that St. Maarten (dutch side) thinks very little of their historic past. To even get to Fort Amsterdam you need to walk through a resort to reach it. The actual fort is very poorly maintained. There is trash and beer bottles every where. There is no historical information anywhere either. The cannons were extremely rusted and everything... more
