My wife and I go to St. Maarten every year for 2 weeks and spend most of our time on Orient Beach, 12 days this last trip. With time and experience you learn that there are very good places to eat and reasonable prices as most are 1 euro = 1$ which is a bargin. Only stuffy Americians have a... more

I was on a cruise and stopped at 4 other islands. Orient Beach was not the best and we went to the beach on every island. The sand is nice, but the water is nothing special. It is on the Atlantic side so it's a little rough. more

Wow, this beach is beautiful. Yes, its a nude beach, but not everyone has to be nude to feel comfortable there :) I'm not sure if it was a fluke, or a certain time of the year, but the jellyfish were EVERYWHERE! On the beach and in the shallow water, so I opted to spend my time tanning on the... more

My husband and I went to both places and had an equally good time at each. At Waikiki Beach, we had great drinks and service. The beach is gorgeous--that's already been said. I liked Waikiki however, because it was quiet and lacked all the jet ski noise. And because it's considerably more expense ($25/two beach chairs, table & umbrella), college... more

My wife and I took the rental car out here and spent the afternoon. We found the restaurant we had researched (Kon Tiki) and ate a delicious meal. We then paid for two front row loungers and an umbrella. Loungers seem to cost from $6 - $10 plus umbrella. Many places on the beach include free drinks and wifi. Do... more

We were on an RCI cruise Feb. 7-14, 2009 that docked in Phillipsburg and I had researched and prebooked the RCI excursion: St. Martin Beach Rendezvous - SM06 to “Orient Beach.” Orient Beach was beautiful and you should go there. I didn't think it was anything spectacular mind you and I was utterly shocked by how sad the surrounding little... more

Orient Beach was one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever visited. A 'Sun worshipers' paradise. The only problems were that food was very expensive. Some 35 ($42) euros just for lunch. The french speaking people there treated Americans as 'second class' and would pass you over just to wait on a French person.. more

I go to St. Martin annually and always stay in Cul de Sac near Orient Beach. I enjoy the naturalist beach very much but I notice that I'm one of the few under the age of 50 there. I wonder what will happen to that area when everyone dies out- it can feel geriatric sorry to say. It must be... more

We were brought to this beach by a local tour company who was highly recommended on the interenet and whose driver seemed only interested in taking us to places where locals were looking for handouts. Immediately after getting out of a cramped, hot, passenger van, were met by locals who wanted to sell us beach chairs and wanted to lead... more
