Really hard to get hold of anything other than very basic information about the building. I wish I had serach the web beforehand.

Designed by architect Henri Picq, the Schoelcher Library was originally built for the 1889 Paris Worlds Fair. It was then diassembled, shipped to Martinique, and reassembled. The colourfully paint cast iron has a coupola ornate facade. Inside there was an exhibit about Martinique during the world wars and a collection of over 130000 books.
